Arrow Aruba bound sep. 6-13!! First timer

Hi,

My husband and I will be visiting ARUBA for the first time!! I'm so exited. We will be celebrating out 6th year anniversary.

But I have a few questions.

1. Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club Resort? If so, is it good and how would you rate your experience.

2. We are thinking of renting a car, but can a car be driven on the roads to get to the natural bridge and all the nice spots on the East Coast?

3. What is the best restaurant to go to for a Romantic Sunset Dinner?

4. Is De Palm Island worth going to?

Thanks.

Yes, a car can get you to that portion of the coast. You cannot get to the Natural Pool via car, you must have a 4 x 4.

Reneissance Island v De Palm Island see Andrea's post, pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

PR83,

Don't know much about the Marriot other than that it is very crowded these days.

A car will get you to most every site, but Uncle Dave is wise to say enjoy the topless aspects of jeep driving, but don't forget the sunscreen.

Romantic dinner at Flying Fishbone is highly recommended. See my blog for photos of this place.

DePalm Island isn't a must. You can snorkle and do many other activities around the island and diversify your experience.

Welcome and enjoy.

Good morning,

First things first, congratulations on your upcoming wedding anniversary, and on your trip to Aruba.

As far as the romantic sunset dinner goes, try Passions, which is on the beach opposite Amsterdam Manor. Very romantic.

May I also suggest, once you get a car, that you try lunch in the I talian restaurant at the California Lighthouse. I believe it's called Il Faro Blanco. The food is good, and the ocean view during the noonhour is unmatched in Aruba.

Just by way of background, I've been going to Aruba, on and off, since 1980. I love the beach, my wife's a shopper and there's plenty there to satisfy both.

If you have any questions about restaurants, shopping, beaches, casinos, etc., you've come to the right place!

Have a great trip.

I have not stayed at the Marriott either, but have toured the compound and found it to be more crowded than where I stay, but it is what you make it and since you are on the greatest Caribbean Island it's all good !!!
Rent a jeep for daily use and to see all of the island, except as stated above you need a quad for the Natural Pool....take a quad tour, they say they are great...we so by ourselves, but if you've never been to the Natural Pool before I would say a tour is best...
I agree with Flying Fishbone also...dig your feet into the sand and water and enjoy the atmosphere.......
Have fun...I'm jealous....3 months to go for me...

Thanks so much for all the helpful replies!

I can't wait to go to ARUBA!!! 24 more days!!

I'm deffinitley going to try Flying Fishbone, i've read so many good reviews on it and i think i'm going to try Passions too.

Ugh, I wish I were leaving 2morrow. I am going to take lots of pictures and post them when I get back.

I know I'm going to love it.

Oh, as for the car rental, I think I will rent a jeep and go topless!! I love feeling the wind thru my hair.

One last question though, which Horesback Riding tour is the best? I'm looking for one that does horseback riding along the east coast and beaches.
