Talking aruba virgin

Greetings from Philadelphia. I am about to embark on my first trip to aruba!! Can't express how excited I am. Sorry I didn't find this forum sooner as I am leaving 4/10/11. I accidentaly won this trip in a sweepstakes I didn't know I entered. Staying at all-inclusive Riu Palace. Any tips to share??? Has anyone stayed at the Riu?

hi and welcome to the forum!

in the search on the left hand side enter RIU and see what comes up lots of reading

if you are into snorkeling or watersports go to the same menu and enter snorkeling or windsurfing or whatever sports you are looking for.

the riu is a lovely all inclusive resort.
their pool area has little shade, so make sure you find a shady spot at the pool or right there on the adjoining beach.

take some time, search around this forum and find some specific questions to ask.

ok, so walking in the deep soft sand may be an issue.
you do need to get into the ocean.........make camp at the pool (shade and sunblock)
and meander your way into the ocean when you are up to it.

the pool to the ocean walk is probably 200 yds, maybe less.

my guess is skydiving and windsurfing are not in the plan.
i know you are doing the all inclusive, so dining off property might not be in your plan..... but there are a few "not to be missed restaurants" if you plan on dining off resort a few times. (do it)
visit the culinary and culture section!

this 55+ moderator hears ya loud and clear.

Take Andrea's suggestion and book a private island tour. If you only see the hi-rise area you've missed Aruba IMHO.

What a sweepstakes to win! Good for you. I agree with Andrea and take a private tour. We went on one last year, and are going to do it again this year. You will learn so much about the island, and see how beautiful it really is.
Have a GREAT time--hope you will be back, Please be sure to let us know how the trip went.
Pat
