Smile Cell Phones in Aruba

I will be arriving in Aruba on January 24th staying at Paradise Beach Villas. I'd like to know if my T Mobile cell will work there. I believe at sometime I saw some info regarding renting cell phones on the island. I'd appreciate any info you can tell me about this.

I've been to Aruba many times although the last trip was in 2002. I am very anxious to get back to my favorite island.

Thank you for your help.

http://www.aruba.com/forum/tags/cell+phones.html there is a lot of info regarding use of cells phones and renting one while on the island.

http://www.t-mobile.com/international/default.aspx t mobile international services, start by seeing if your phone http://www.t-mobile.com/International/InternationalDevices.aspx?tp=Inl_Tab_International Devices
has the capability. If so you must "Add WorldClass International Roaming to your account before you travel (activation is free)."

Hopefully the above info will give you a base to get you started on your research.

Phones are a tough one, some worked some do not, BUT it is getting better, my kids phones all work. You can also contact your provider and for a small fee they can add international to your phone. Mine works very well.

Being a T-mobile customer also, I checked my phone online and it was okay for International calls. Then called them and had the service activated. There was no fee to do that, but I don't recall the rates/fees for calls. Fortunately it is done immediately since I only thought of doing this the night before we left. The calls were very clear. Dad thought we were still at home! I hope T-mobile call help you.
