first time in aruba

morning all,

Will be in aruba for first time in 3rd week of july staying at carribean palm village.

Seems like an ok resort no beach though, probably will rent a car.
What are some tips, and nice things to do.....

We would like to barbeque on the resort a few days as they have a grill, visit a few beaches, and eat at some restaurants. Would like to do snorkling but i can't swim but my wife can!

I hope to have a great time and any tips is well appreciated!
We like to drink, relax on beach, enjoy nice food...we may also spend a night in a different resort like brickell bay, marriott, or divi aruba golf resort.

Read the forum for a few days and then ask your questions. That way you have a feel of what info is available.
Also, ask your specific questions and most will reply with specifics answers.
IMOP brickel bay should be avoided.

I have got a few things on here so far:
I have all the great beaches to visit and from what i read make sure i eat at smokey joe's. mj's, passions, what about a nice brunch/breakfast that's under $30......

we have stayed at CPV and a rental car is definitely needed.they do though provide shuttles to palm beach at Moombas.

a nice breakfast.........(not a brunch) at tortuga at aruba beach club!!

a nice brunch at hyatt on sundays.
i think it is priced mid $30 or so.

if you cannot swim do not snorkel.

We had a good breakfast at Taste of Belgium in the Palm Beach Mall for around $30.

sound good thanks guys. I maybe book a 1 night stay at a hotel for a different beach front feel to get away from CPV for a day.

I am considering stayiing at the Westin Resort, Divi Aruba Phoenix or Amsterdam. Which would be the best for beach, restaurants to walk to. I am looking to suprise my wife for a 1 night stay on the beach and which ever place is right on the beach were we can walk and look at the sunset is going to be the best choice.

Is the meat in the grocery store nicely priced we are thiking of barbeque on CPV resort to save for lunch some days.....

As all ready said there is shuttle that takes you to Moomba Beach. I believe Moomba beach also has a nice breakfast buffet. I like the Phoenix on the beach. but do ask for a new room if you should decide to stay there. The beach is an inlet no waves. Great if you cannot swim. There is also a nice bar/restaurant (Pure beach) and a few steps down there is Sunset Bistro Grill. You can eat either at Moomba Beach or Sunset with feet in the sand, lighted torches and a few steps from the water. Ambiance is great, food is o.k. Suset bistro has a 3 course special $29.99 each. it is ok not bad. MJ's is the best. Close to you is Linda's Pancake house. Headed the other way not towards the beach I believe. If my memory is correct is it close to where you are staying. Lindas is traditional dutch pancakes. Very good---(the second cup of coffee there is not free though.) Enjoy.
