First time in Aruba - Can't wait

This is our first time to Aruba. We are on a budget and any tips would be great from transportation to and from airport, traveling around Aruba, best sites to see would be greatly appreciated. We are staying at La Cabana... Location wise, how close is it to the grocery stores, mall, restaurants. Should we rent a car or just use public transportation? We won't be doing any snorkeling. What is the best way to go to and from the airport if we don't rent a car. Thank you in advance.

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

the bus stop at lacabana is in front of the amsterdam manor on the north side of lacabana. that bus will take you to the hi rise (to the north) and to the lo rise area and downtown to the south) lacabana is very convenient location.

lacabana is about a 10 minute walk to the SuperFoods which is across the highway...being careful crossing that road.
i recommend a taxi back to lacabana from superfoods

i recommend a taxi to and from the airport
here is a list of taxi fares
lacabana is in the Lo rise area

Welcome to the forum. The 20th will be here before you know it. Another option for airport transportation is the DePalm bus. You can book on line and it's $15 per person round trip.

Hi GeeGee! Welcome to the Aruba.com Community Forum!

Buses/taxis are very easy to find, but renting a car is not very expensive and gives you the ability to explore a bit on your own.

Can anyone tell me when the Cruise ships dock? Wanted to avoid the area and traffic since we decided to rent a car.

Also, how is parking in Aruba? Is there parking garages like in the mall areas? Do most places charge parking fees?

here is the link to the cruise port schedule for june

    http://www.arubaports.com/main/wp-co...-June-2015.pdf

the malls in the palm beach have parking and honestly i do not know if there is a charge.
typically we park near the holiday inn/tony romas and walk around the area or we park across from the playa linda, there is a fee and it is pretty inexpensive.

since you are staying at lacabana, it might be easier to hop on the public bus that stops out in front of the amsterdam manor and will go all the way up to the hi rise/palm beach area and you will not have to give parking in that area a 2nd thought. the bus runs frequently.

also too, the buses will run downtown frequently.
