First time visit!

Hello! My name is Jennifer, I'll be visiting Aruba for the first time May 16th! Have had this island on my list for a very long time, can't wait!

I have tried to research the resort I'll be staying at as well as the surrounding resorts for information but haven't had much luck. I'll be staying at La Cabana and have been looking for a coffee shop that sells espresso within walking distance. The only little coffee shop (that sells actual espresso) that I can find near-by is Island Breeze Coffee at Costa Linda Beach Resort. On the hotel map it doesn't look TOO far, but of course I can't be sure if it's within walking distance. Can't seem to find anything close to La Cabana--any suggestions? Would anyone who's been in this area say Costa Linda is within walking distance from La Cabana? I should add that I'm 34, in good shape! But not looking to walk 10 miles one way.

Thank you to everyone for any help you can give me! Take care!

hi jennifer

welcome to the forum

cinnabon in lacabana lobby "might" has espresso.
also too, maybe amsterdam manor next door to lacabana "might" have espresso.

walking distance to costa linda
10 - 15 minutes
less than a mile from lacabana, maybe about 3/4 mile.

hubby and i walked it every morning as a "wake me up" and stopped at the dunkin near costa linda for an iced coffee for the walk home.

we are not good walkers...we are meanderers.

and it is also on the bus route.
get on the bus across the street from amsterdam manor
get off the bus right there at costa linda, there is a bus stop right near the parking lot entrance to costa linda.

Andrea,

Thank you for the information! I really appreciate it! 10-15 minute walk will be perfect first thing in the morning anyway! What a great way to start my mornings in Aruba. If you think of any other close by coffee places, feel free to let me know! =) Have a wonderful night!

Hi Jennifer,

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum, I been reading it for a long time myself and just recently joined. I will also be staying at the LaCabana and will be there the same time you are. I am sure you will have a great time as I have been going there for 15 yrs and always enjoy myself. If you want to talk or maybe meet when you get there you can send me a private message if youd like.

here i am the "queen of laziness" and i say that with shame not pride.

click the above link.
if you are like me, you can boil water, even on vacation.
would this instant espresso suffice for the early am caffeine jolt?
i just got an email from a forum member that told me to suggest this instant espresso to you as it is "terrific".
me, well i am not an instant coffee fan, no way, nor a fan of espresso .....but thought i would pass along the link from our anonymous buddy.

There's nothing like a morning walk in Aruba. Always (ok, almost always) a breeze and not too hot (yet)...Perfect!

Andrea: Thanks for the link--someone said Starbucks had something similar. I've never tried instant but there's a first time for everything! I'm not proud of the fact that I'm an espresso freak--but it's my only vice! Sounds like the walk from La Cabana to Costa Linda isn't bad at all and very do-able! Thank you for all your help, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!

LaCabanagirl: How exciting that you'll be there at the same time! I'll be walking every morning to get espresso it looks like, maybe I'll see you there!

I do have one more question--my friend that I'm meeting up with lands in Aruba an hour after me. She's asked me to wait for her outside of baggage claim, but since I've never been to this airport before I wasn't sure if that was an area I would be able to meet up with her at. I know in Cancun, after you collect your bags, you pretty much have to go outside where all the transfer service folks are and it's somewhat packed.

Thanks again everyone!

Your going to have to leave the baggage collection area - but there is a spot to wait right outside there. It gets a little busy - but not overwhelming.

once you get outside the luggage retrieval area and thru aruba customs, there are some kiosk vendors ready to serve you cold beverages, ice cream and snacks AND there are tables. all of this is still indoors so that you do not have to wait outside in the blazing sun.
if your friend's flight is late, then what?
