First visit to Aruba

Hello everyone, I'm Mark (36) from Fife, Scotland. Self-employed, like to work hard and enjoy what little quality time I get off, thought this would a great place to take my girlfriend. Would really like to stay in a 4/5 star hotel, was looking at the Riu, can anyone suggest a good place to stay ? Thinking 7 days, end Sep/beginning October next year. Many thanks.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum.

The Riu would be an excellent choice for a four star property. You can book it through First Choice?

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. Have you stayed at the Riu, do you know if there is much difference between that one and a 5 star, perhaps the Hyatt ? Just as I saw good reviews for the Riu first and foremost. What is there to do in Aruba, have you done any trips etc ? cheers

The Hyatt is not all inclusive, but it is a beautiful resort.

The Hyatt, Marriott Stellaris, Radisson and Westin are all considered four star as well as the Riu. There are no five star properties on the island.

The Westin and the Marriott offer an all inclusive option.

For a four star all inclusive the Riu is "it".
Overall it seems to get very positive reviews.
Unfortunately there are not many here, but perhaps check the reviews online at

Hi, thanks for that. Have now booked up for the Riu for next year. Can you recommend any 'musts' for the holidays, quite fancy the diving and maybe hiring a car to see the island ? Thanks

For diving, Unique Sports http://www.visitaruba.com/uniquesports/ is right at the northern end of the Riu's property http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.5679415&lon=-70.0477284&z=18&l=0&m=b and their boats leave from De Palm right in front of there as well.

For a tour see the info at http://www.aruba.com/forum/f38/bully-cerry-private-tour-39116/
