It is the only place I fly to that everyone on the airplane is smiling ( on the way to ). On the way home, not so many smiles!

Welcome! Regarding the packing list..... only pack half of what you think you'll need and you'll still only use half of that!

I am sure that your first trip to Aruba will lead to many more visits back! It only takes one visit to fall in LOVE with this island!

For those that mention the crying room are you referring to the airport when you are sitting there watching all the people just arriving off the plane???

    I HATE THAT
In fact I hate it so much that when I arrive I dont look at those people becuase I know how it feels.

    25th Wedding Anniversary Trip

My husband & I will be arriving for the very 1st time in Aruba on May 29, 2013,,,,78 days to be exact and I am beside myself with excitement! We haven't been on a vacation like this EVER!!! I work in the Criminal Justice Industry (Probation) and am some what "jaded" - I've read a few reports of thefts/burglary's occuring and folks having all their personal belongings stolen,,,can anyone tell me if this is regular occurance or something I shouldn't worry too much about. We're coming from the Midwest (Iowa) and YES, just got 8inches of SNOW yesterday - so definately are overwhelmed with excitement. We will be staying at the DIVI Beach & Golf Resort - which looks GOURGOUS by the way, What can anyone tell me about this place? We don't even have passports & have to go get them this week,,,,Sad huh

Thanks in advance for any information.

    P.S.- LOVE this site!

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

make sure when you get your passports, also order the wallet sized id cards too.

using the menu to the left, you can click SEARCH and enter crime.

    my advice to others:
take the same precautions with your property or self that you would take at home.

aruba is still one of the safest places i know.

if in a rental car, do not keep valuables visible. always lock the vehicle doors.

at your resort, use your safe. keep your doors locked.

do not flaunt cash either purposely or by error.

divi village/golf and beach resort is a lovely resort.
there are at least 3 restaurants on property.
there are at least 3 pools
the beach (druif) is across the street and has numerous palapas situated quite a way back away from the water.
the golf course is a 9 hole course.
there is a casino and shopping/marketplace nearby.
there are small tram shuttles that will bring you back and forth to the beach and to the alhambra marketplace.

    you will love aruba!

    Thank You Andrea!

Andrea, You are the BEST - thanks for your quick response. Do we even really need a car? We just want to hang out by the beach w/ a cool "Adult" beverage,,,Ha! And, SHOPPING,,,if I can talk my hubby into it. He's not much of a shopper,,,Crazy huh. You said to get the wallet card,,,,others have said don't get the card, just get the book. You sound like a VERY experienced traveler and I would greatly appreciate your input.

Again, Thanks for the quick response

Hi Heather, myself and hubby stayed at the Divi Beach and golf in 2010. It is superb. The large pool is outstanding, we spent many hours there. Mulligans restaurant is very nice. I caddied for my husband on golf course which is part of the package we had. just a short walk across the road is Druif beach with the Divi and Tamarin. Great location to hang out and have a Balashi (local beer) or cocktail. The beach is stunning. We are returning this year in September to the Divi all inclusive on the beach. can't wait.
