Cool Hi! I'm planning my first trip.....

And I need a lot of advice! Planning on spending my 50th on a beach in Aruba and that will be next December. I've never done the Caribbean in the winter and the rain I'm seeing predicted for this week is scaring me. Do the mods live in Aruba? I'm looking forward to all your knowledge!

welcome to the aruba.com community forum.
Next December gives you plenty of planning time!
re: the weather............the weather blows in and out of aruba real quickly
it could be showery in palm beach and sunny in eagle beach and then in 10 minutes it stops.
here is a thread on the weather that you may want to check out.

    ***Aruba Weather Discussion/info/Reports***

click above link for weather discussions.

take plenty of time, a cup of coffee and read and read and read this site.
tons of knowledgeable people here and we are all willing and able to guide you.

first of all where do you want to stay? hi rise bustling area (palm beach) or lo rise (eagle beach or druif beach) quieter but not dead area?

hotel or timeshare or house rental?

    all inclusive or not?

no, neither jacki or i live in aruba. but there are plenty of days where we wish we lived there!

jacki lives in the northeast usa and i live in the southeast usa.

so after you read some , please ASK some specifics.

    again, welcome.

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry too much about the weather. The rain never seems to last. In 7 trips we have never had a full day of rain. There have been bursts of rain overnight or early in the morning but nothing lasting. When your on the beach and it rains most people don't even leave the beach. You're already wet so what's the sense.

I was lucky enough to spend my 50th birthday (3 years ago tomorrow Xmas eve) in Aruba!!!! It was the best birthday ever and yours will be extra special as it will be your first time. You will love, love, love it and don't worry about the weather. You will have more sun than rain drops. I always do all inclusive but always go somewhere special for dinner once a trip and made reservations at a nice restaurant for my birthday. Happy planning and it will be here before you know it. You will fall in love with this forum and the people on this forum which will make your countdown easier.

Thank you all! I will read the weather thread and not worry, as I said never have done Caribbean in winter. Been close to Aruba many years ago having visited Bonaire. Cannot wait for Aruba.

i have made reservations at Bucuti because I really, really want to avoid screaming children and it looks like it will be perfect.

i wish you all Happy Holidays and all the best for the new year!

i will be poking around a lot in the next twelve months!

DiviDiviFan - Happy Birthday! Mine is Xmas day lol

we always go in December and it usually rains late at night when you're sleeping. once or twice when we've been there it rained but never all day (except our first trip there 4 years ago). since then, never had a wash out. friends just came back after two weeks in December, didn't even rain at night. usually you wake up and the chairs outside are wet, that's about it. we are going in December, too, again.

In 12 trips to Aruba we have never had a real rain out... We have had a few scattered showers that have slowed us down. But never a whole day ruined because of rain. The storms that do come in tend to pass over quick. December is my favorite time on the Island.

I got through quite a bit if the weather thread and thank you, I'm not going to worry about it! I chose Aruba because of the location and having been to Bonaire I know the weather is wonderful. December is what is new to me

thoughts in the Bucuti? I picked it because it's adults only, I'm old and crabby and have spent quite a few Caribbean vacations with kids near me screaming all day lol.....I also likes the breakfast included and sine around options.

i am am open to other suggestions and would prefer to have most dining at the hotel or nearby not sure I want to rent a car but will if it's the best idea. I'd truly rather just walk to places or be at the hotel.

    Happy New Year!! Kim
