Hi, just introducing
Hello,
John and Kathy from the Bucks County area of Pennsylvania. Kathy and I have just discoverd this community site. What a great resource for Aruba visitors. We had plannned to stay at The Aruban for the week of Jan. 9 through the 16th, renting a timeshare. We were looking forward to a little R&R and some snorkeling on this beautiful island. We just learned that The Aruban has been closed. Obviously, we are disapointed and dismayed that The Aruban booking folks said nothing about the impending financial issues that resulted in the place closing. We are now scrambling to find a reasonable place to stay, since our deposit at The Aruban is in limbo. John and Kathy |

Hi: I can well imagine how terribly disappointed you are about accomodations. On the other hand, you definitely have come to the right place for advice on alternative places to stay.
In the meantime, I hope that you have an absolutely, "Wonderful; Happy; and Healthy Holiday," and, of course, "A Very Happy and Healthy New Year." Good luck on your quest. Ed |

Ed and Shnyda,
Thanks for the encouraging words! We think it'll be OK. We've been in contact with 1/2 the hotels on the island. We feel bad for any unsuspecting travelers with reservations at The Aruban who may not be aware that the facility abruplty shut down. We found out accidentily while getting airport transportation to The Aruban. I've been checking the online edition of the local Aruban paper, and have not read anything about the strike or financial issues. John |
