    yes, agree.
    however they are mistakes.
    they are not "on purposes"

there is much need on this forum for folks to add those winks, or frowns or smiles etc.

there was a reported posting this morning that we are trying to get the poster to "edit".
unsure if it is a joke or sarcasm, but there was no smilie/emoticon.
jacki or i will delete it later if the person does not add the smilie.

I try to make the tone of my comments obvious so there is less chance of misunderstanding. I always reread a post Ive written before I post it. I sometimes rewrite it to make it sound more mellow so it's not misconstrued.

On the other hand, if you are truly being nasty, a smilie face doesn't make it OK.

I'm not refusing to use smilies, just commenting.

Absolutely right Andy and I apologize for implying that one can get away with nastiness as lone as there is a smilie imbedded.
The posting in question today, was snarky and inappropriate. Jacki and I both contacted the poster but he or she has not replied so I deleted the snotty comment.

i also take offense at the rolling of the eyes emoticon or smilie as I find that snarky and mean spirited too.

I like the eye roll when used in self-deprecating humor. Even in reality I roll my eyes at some of my crazy, compulsive or neurotic moments.

Great job to you and Jacki!

<-- I like him too. One of my favorite off the cuff comments (usually to my kids) is "Smack yourself" when doing something silly or not thought out enough. Of course it could always be taken as something other than how I mean it, so I try not to use that emoji.
