Welcome to the forum........hope you have a great vacation.
Panhandlers and such as you have already read are vitually non-existant....you might run into a few timeshare people but even they do not push too hard.
If you plan on heading into downtown to look around there is a good local restaurant called Peanuts.....its one of my favorites.....good food, lots of it and cheap...ask for directions, its easy to get to....
    ARUBA....HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Just a thought, last time we were at Bugaloe, you need to make sure you havwe some change for the restroom. The restroom is not owned by the restaurant and there was an attendant requiring a small fee, maybe 50 cents or a $1. On one of our tours there was a stop (maybe Natural Bridge?) where there was also a charge on the bathroom. Just a good reminder to keep some small bills or change with you just in case.
Not sure when, but we will be back

You will enjoy the Hyatt very much. We love to check out the different hotels on Aruba and have a cocktail while checking out the property for future stays. We had to see the black swans and beautiful pool at the Hyatt. We have found if you are respectful and friendly you can do this even at an AI resort. We have bought drink tokens or tipped the bartender nicely for a drink or two and never had a problem anywhere we have gone. But I have to say that if we were staying at the Hyatt I would mostly stay put-it is that nice. If you want to take a taxi and check out some local places, check out Zeerovers and Charlies Bar. We love to see the boats come in at Zeerovers while having drinks on the dock. We are amazed at the different, huge beautiful fish. Charlies Bar is a pisser with all the crazy stuff on the ceiling and walls-great Charlies bar Aruba t-shirt souvenir to buy there. We feel safe in Aruba, we smile, say thankyou and tip well and the locals are very friendly to us. We have gone to some hole in the wall snack shacks and bars & outside BBQ places and have more fun and better food than than some fancy places we have gone to. Enjoy your stay!
