    New to Forum, 2nd Trip

Hi! Our 1st trip was 10 years ago as a 2nd honeymoon. We are Owners at LaCabanna. This time we are coming with our sons, 15 & 17. We couldn't get into LaC so are booked at Paridise right next door. It looks like the island has changed a lot in 10 years! We have lots planned. We've tried twice to get ahold of Paridise to get specifics on the resort but no reply. Any reviews would be appreciated. We are arriving on July 4th. I've read they do have fireworks. As a Navy Vet I'm very excited! Does anyone know where they go off? 38 days and counting!

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

there will be fireworks at different resorts on aruba. small displays, unlike the ones here in the usa. july 4 is not a holiday for aruba, but there are some displays for the american tourists! (hyatt on palm beach i think will have some fireworks)

pbv is a nice property with 2 pools. i know they had been doing some renovations in the past year or 2.

they have an onsite restaurant and a bar.
their section beach has palapas and lounges.
i do not know their palapa reservation procedure, or even if they have one!

the units are nicely appointed and have well equipped kitchens.
unsure if wifi is free of $.

Navy vet...thank you for your service!

Thank you for the warm welcome!
I'll post this on another thread too but because Andrea mentioned it, one thing I haven't figured out yet is phone/Wifi. With 2 teenage boys I'm going to need something. I know to turn off data roaming and if there is a Wifi signal we are good. Our phones are with Sprint and they do have a world wide plan I'm considering. But yesterday I heard about Mifi's . A mobil Wifi so if we didn't have a signal it would provide one. I've looked into SIM cards too. 10 years ago we got a calling card and called home 4 times to check on the kids. How times have changed!!!

I have an iPhone 5S and I just put it in airplane mode and then turn the wifi back on and use the wifi at the resort. Some resorts have free wifi, others like the Divi charge. We paid $50 for 7 days. There are a few detailed threads on the subject if you do a search. I know there are others on the board that are way more tech savvy than I am.

I agree! I remember we used to use the phone booth down by the renaissance and called home just a couple times. But yes MiFi (Mio) is amazing! With the boys and it being able to connect anywhere at any time you want to make sure you purchase enough data. You will love it...I never had problem getting reception anywhere on the island.

Welcome to the forum. The Hyatt has had fireworks... a short quality display on the 4th each of the past 5 years at 9 PM. We're actually planning dinner on Eagle Beach for 8 that night.... figured we'd catch the fireworks on Palm Beach from there and anything else that happens in our area.

Yes.... a lot has changed in your absence... but you'll still recognize Aruba and the wonderful people.
