New to the forum but not to Aruba

I have been reading the forum for a long time now and am amazed at the amount of useful information it has. I finally decided to join. My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Aruba in 2006 and have been going back ever since. We will be going back for our 4th visit in the fall. We have stayed at La Cabana and most recently the Marriott Surf. This visit we are back at La Cabana on a getaway. We heard a rumor that La Cabana was closed! I thought they were under renovation. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Welcome to the forum.

It was the Aruban Resort which HAD BEEN closed. It is now under new management and functioning as normal. The Aruban and La Cabana however are two separate resorts.

welcome to the forum chrisvec

more info on aruban and lacabana

although the aruban is listed as fully opened, the casino is not.
there are blocks of rooms at the aruban that are closed too for reasons that i do not know.
the aruban resort has recently been acquired at auction by the Tropicana group of which mr ichan is a majority shareholder.
the timeshare owners at the aruban are optimistic that good change will happen there.

re: lacabana
the entire resort has been under renovation for 2 years!
they are more than halfway completed.
approx 20 +/- units are shut down gutted and fully renovated at any given time....and it is a little more than half way complete.
a casino is in the process of being built in the area where the "captains table restaurant" once stood.

Hi Andrea J. Thanks for the information. I had been following the renovations at LaCabana so when we heard that it was closed we were suprised. Thanks to you and Arubalisa, we can relax and enjoy the exctiement of our upcoming trip. Have any information on Halloween happenings for adults during Halloween weekend? Does the island celebrate Halloween?
