    New Year Eve 2013

This will be my first vacation in Aruba and I will be coming on a romantic get away weekend for New Years Eve 2013.

We are looking for unique venues to spend our evening, perhaps starting a little low key with a romantic dinner, then choosing somewhere fun to celebrate the New Years festivies.

I am having difficulting finding out what is going on during this time and would welcome any recommendations.

    Cannot wait till New Year's!

Been a rough year - a week after we returned home from Aruba in July - I got laid off. I wasnt sure I was going to be able to go on our Dec/Jan trip which was already planned. Everything worked out and we will be arriving the 29th. We are taking along my sister-in-law to babysit! Back to work in October and already taking Vacation in December!

Thanks - for the first time in a long time -- during my couple months of unemployments... Aruba was not the only thing on my mind.

That being said... New Year's in Aruba is my fave time to be there. My wife, my daughter and my sis-in-law will be up at the Lighthouse for a champagne toast at sunset on 12/31 --- little tradition we started a few years ago. Can't wait!!

Welcome to the forum and you will love Aruba. My first visit to ARUBA I was doing some last minute shopping in my hotel and the very sweet girl told me if I ever had the chance to come during New YEAR'S EVE it is a huge celebration. I did make it for Christmas Eve which is my b-day but not New Year's yet. Have a wonderful time! What a way to bring in the new year!

Shnyda - New Year's Eve at the lighthouse sounds interesting. Are there many people who do this, or a small crowd that assembles?

foreveramber - Just be prepared. Our first trip to Aruba was after our wedding on December 30, 1989. We couldn't believe the amount of celebrating everyone was doing. The amount of red paper from the fireworks floods the streets. We've been to the island 10 times since, but never over the Christmas holiday until last year. Our flight to return to the states was in the early afternoon of New Year's Eve and the traffic was CRAZY!!! This year we will be there through the 1st, and I can't wait.

There are no more or less people there at Sunset on New Year's than any other evening. There was probably about 10 - 20 people up there on 12/31/10 (we skipped last year due to the birth of my daughter).

I would assume there may be a good crowd up there at midnite - you can see all the fireworks down the entire shoreline from the lighthouse area.

My wife and I thought of the idea in 2009 to end the final sunset of the decade up there. Very peaceful and a great way to start the evenings festivities.
