Newbie to Aruba with Unique Group

    Hello to everyone!

Me and a group of 8 friends take a Caribbean Vacation every year. In years past we have gone to St Marteen, Dominican Republic, etc. This year we selected Aruba.

We have rented a Villa from Aruba Villa Vacation Homes what appears to be up in the mountains, off Caya Frans Figaroa, just up from Palm Beach.

One member of our group is an amputee and because of this; our water / beach activities are usually limited because of his leg is highly metal based and can not really get wet. This year, we also are having a 7 month old baby join us on the trip due to they are only breast feeding her.

On the other islands, we enjoy riding around, seeing historical stuff, talking to people, etc. We also have typically rented a small boat for the day and cruised around the island just sight seeing. We often catch a casino or two at night, but we are also very happy day drinking or just relaxing around the house (which has a pool).

I know this is not typical to what most people think of when it comes to a beach vacation, but we always have a blast and the fact that we are not at home or at work is the real goal anyways.

As it is the first time on the island, is there any place that we just have to see from a historical, island beauty, etc. We have rented a car and as we have a breast feeding mother with us, we will have a sober driver. So we are fair game for anything. Has anyone rented a small power boat for the day from anyone? Something that will hold 4-6 adults

We are arriving the afternoon of March 8 and leave Mid Day on the 13th. The first night Im sure we will just hang around the house after we go get food and liquor from the store. So we basically have 4 full days to do whatever. Lead me into greatness oh great people of aruba.com

welcome to the aruba.com community forum!
sounds like a nice group of fun people

glad to hear that you are renting a vehicle and have the designated driver hahahahaha

i bet you'd love driving thru the Arikok (on the paved section), to Alto Visa Chapel, California Lighthouse and Baby Beach area. (all of that might take about 3 hours) and add in a stop for lunch.......Charlies in San Nic is popluar for tourists although i find it expensive and food is only so so.

Visit the "activities" section fo this forum.

Welcome to the forum.... you may be disappointed in the size of the 'mountains' but you'll be overjoyed with all else about Aruba. Leave plenty of beach/pool time!

Hi! Welcome to the Aruba.com community forum!!

Sound like a great bunch to travel together! The view from the California Lighthouse is a must see.

Fort Zoutman is a great place to get a feel for the island's history http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do/fo...torical-museum

Aruba watersports offers speed boat rental at a reasonable fee I am planning to do so myself solo even if no others to ride along just to see the island from the water. www.arubawatersportscenter.com

Be sure to check out the Casibiri rock formations. They have paths going around all the huge boulders that are very easy for someone with an artificial limb to navigate and several stairs going all the way up. They are higher than most of Arubas mountains.

That almost nails where we are staying. In the neighborhood just to the right of your Pin.

Sounds like there will be plenty for us to do in the few days we are there. I always try to get the group to go longer then we do, but I must admit and agree with the group. Landing on a Sunday, gives you the Saturday before to prepare after a busy week of work trying to get ready for vacation, and getting home on a Friday allows you to recover in your own bed before being force to return to work on Monday morning. :-)

One quick question about money. I understand US dollars are accepted just about everywhere. But outside of things like the grocery store, gas stations, etc. Are things priced in USD or AFL? i.e. at restaurants, gift shops, etc? Also are they clearly marked in what the pricing is? Thanks
