Does Aruba not have people on the beach trying to sell you things? Is there a specific law that prevents this? Just curious because we've found it so prevalent on some of the other islands. It doesn't bother us (everyone has to earn a living), but it does get annoying when they keep coming one after the other. LOL.
i do not know if there is a law specifically banning solicitations on the beach.
there is the "aruba aloe man" who is a unique character who sells his aloe product/s and most everyone welcomes him, lots make purchases.
maybe he has a special vendor license.
sometimes there are folks passing out flyers for restaurant promotions or shopping promotions, but those folks are very few and far between.
most of the time...no solicitations.
we have not been approached in years.
We used to see timeshare promoters on the beach from time to time, but haven't seen that in years.
Jacki ~ loving Aruba from NJ
Welcome, welcome! Your Irish eyes will be smiling upon your arrival in Aruba You are going to fall in love with the beautiful beach, friendly people and great weather. Another reason I love Aruba is the fact you can relax on the beach with no people trying to sell their goods. I have seen the Aloe Man on occasion but this character will make you smile if you do see him and he just keeps walking unless you stop him. I have had women stop me to ask if they can braid my hair, after a quick smile and no thanks they go on their way. I am very excited for your first of hopefully many trips to Aruba. Don't worry about keeping your secret, along with your travel companions you now have all of us to share your excitement with, promise we will keep your secret Just don' look for advice from "CP" about keeping secret from your loved one, if I recall he kept his trip hush from his DW for a little while until he finally bust, (LOL) Have fun!!!!
LOL! Divi Fan, your response made me smile. I HAVE been bursting at the seams, but am determined that this be a surprise, so I'm trying my very best. I am excited about our first Aruba trip too; we've been to St. Maarten many times over the past 10 years, but never to Aruba. So I'm looking forward to a change and a new place to have fun. Everyone on this board has been great so far -- I really appreciate all the input and the warm welcome! 4 months, one week and counting.
Just realized we have the same countdown to December and we will be staying next door at Aruba Beach Club. Maybe we will see you at happy hour.
7 trips in and still finding things to love. #8 will be great in November!
