I have been there the week before Thanksgiving the past 3 years and am going back the same time this year. No problems at all with the weather. There has been some rain on each trip but it was brief or at night and never had to change any plans because of it.

We're in our 50's, love to snorkel, find good food, and enjoy the beach.

We went to Mexico last year in October (23rd) and, although they said it was their rainy season, the weather was lovely with wonderful breezes on the beach and great snorkeling at Akumal Beach. We did have one rainy day but it wasn't a problem.

Also would like to know the best snorkeling areas from a beach where the water is calm or fun boat trips to nice beach through NOT rough waters (seasick!) I'm a newbie snorkeler and get freaked out if the water is rough. - yeah , I know, I'm a pain . (loved Xel-ha!) Also my husband is recovering from a major back surgery so don't want him doing anything where he might get knocked around too much!!

Any good suggestions for snorkeling or good food or shopping most greatly appreciated! Also areas where you don't have to walk toooo far. Although since his surgery my hubby is much more mobile, he still gets sore if he has to walk far.

OH we will be staying at the Occidental Aruba Grande Resort. Can you tell us anything about it?

    Thanks so much!
    Meenie
For an easy going boat ride, go out with Jethro, on the Octopus. It is totally sail - no gas power. He'll take you to the Antille ship wreck, but that is pretty choppy - even in good weather. Also, the shipwreck is down about 60' so you really can't get close. Then he'll take you to Malmok beach. Bring some bread with you in a baggie to throw out in the water while snorkeling. that draws a lot of fish. He provides masks, life jackets and flippers. That is much gentler, and where we taught our 4 year old to snorkel. The boat ride is very smooth, even in rougher seas. Jethro doesn't like to take people out in the rougher seas though. You are in sight of the island the entire time. He picks up passengers from a thatched hut near the Holiday Inn property, on the beach. The only drawback for your husband may be that people sit on a shallow rise on the deck itself. Depending on your husbands back condition, he may, or may not, be able to sit at that level. Enjoy - the weather is always great!

There is very little difference in weather on Aruba. October is the beginning of rainy season, but with a little over 21 inches of rain per year, you are not talking about much rain at all. Rain also falls mainly in short showers overnight or early in the morning. It is very rare in Aruba where you will have a day which is "rained out".

    October weather
    Average high temperature 90 F.
    Average low temperature 80 F.
    Average temperature 83 F.
    Average water temperature 83 F.
    Average windspeed 13 mph
Average maximum wind speed 28 mph
Average rainfall 2.60 inches (20.3 inches annual)

    November weather
    Average high temperature 90 F.
    Average low temperature 78 F.
    Average temperature 82 F.
    Average water temperature 83 F.
    Average windspeed 13 mph
Average maximum wind speed 29 mph

Aruba Meets all Your Shopping Needs
    Hello,
My wife and I have been to Aruba 13 times over the years and have visited in May, October and November. We feel November is the best for all around visit. We have snorkeled through DePalm and had a great time. On return from snorkeling you are in the high rise area where you can eat at several great restaurants, visit all the high rise hotels and casinos. There is plenty of shopping also. The weather is always GREAT in Aruba and very little rain in November......when most of our trips were taken. When it does rain, it only lasts a short period then clears and you don't even know it rained a few minutes later. We will be there again this November and always stay at the Divi all inclusive. Hope this helped a bit.....have a great trip and I am sure you will return.....Pasa un bon dia......Danki, Ray & Evelyn
