    Cool 2 weeks in paradise

I guess I better start posting before it all runs together...

9/19: We had an early flight out with a long layover in Charlotte. Arrived in Aruba and breezed through Immigration and Customs. Got picked up by More4Less and received a nice, clean, newer Dodge Caravan. Stopped by Ling and Sons and then off to the Surf Club. Got checked in and up to the room about 15 hours after our day began. We unpacked, went to pick up dinner (a pepperoni pizza from the pool grill) and took it back to the room. We ate half of it with a couple of cold Balashis and rum concoctions, and then it was lights out.

9/20: Woke up to a glorious day and started with a walk down the beach for breakfast burritos and screwdrivers at Scott’s Brats. What a wonderful way to start the day. It was nice to see Scott and Leslie again, and we made plans to meet Sunday at Busters for the football games. Afterwards it was back to the Surf Club and many, many laps around the Lazy River. Dinner was at Taste of Belgium, pan fried grouper for DW, roasted chicken wrapped in prosciutto for me, we had water to drink and it came to a little over $40 with tip. We walked over to Moomba and wrapped up the evening with a few drinks listening to the band and talking to a nice couple from Rhode Island.

9/21: Breakfast was in the room this morning with fried egg, bacon and Gouda cheese sandwiches. After breakfast we hopped in the van and went driving around, stopping at Iguana Joes for a frosty beverage and snacks. It was crowded downtown with a lot of festivities going on. We then went to the new SuperFoods, the new store is very nice and very well stocked, but parking is a little confusing. We went back and hung by the pool till dinner. Dinner was tapas at Salt and Pepper and we relaxed in the room with a movie to finish up the evening.

9/22: Breakfast in the room again and a little pool time before football. We went to Busters and met Scott and Leslie to watch some of the games. While there we also met a fanatical Ravens fan who turned out to be BALTIMOREBILLY! He was there with his wife. It’s always pretty cool to meet someone from the forum. After the early game was over (Pat’s won!) we returned to the timeshare and spent some more time at the pool before dinner. We had some leftovers and watched a little television before going to bed. Tomorrow the rest of the family arrives!

Hollywood Smokehouse was set up serving brisket and other things, I didn't see anything else going on.

9/23: Hit the pool after breakfast before heading to the airport to pick up the rest of the gang. The flight was early and after hugs and greetings, we went to Iguana Joe’s for lunch. We then swung by Ling and Son’s for additional groceries and took off for the Surf Club. All anyone wanted to do was hit the pool, so we played in the water till the sun went down. We had planned on Salt and Pepper for dinner, but somehow wound up at Iguana Cantina. Based on somewhat recent reviews here on the forum I decided to give them yet another try. Big mistake. I won’t go into details, but a complaint to management resulted in several apologies and our drinks being taken off of the bill. We still waited for over an hour for Mexican-ish food. Unacceptable. We returned to the timeshare where our weary travelers made for bed.

Sorry about Iguana Cantina.... of the three related restaurants (Smokey Joe's, Iguana Cantina and Iguana Joe's) it's the only one that I wouldn't go back to. It was just mediocre compared to the sister restaurants.
