9/27: Election day. A lot of restaurants are closed today, so except for a quick trip to the pharmacy and Super Foods we stayed close to the resort. For breakfast we treated ourselves to the AYCE buffet at La Vista. As always the food, selection and service was incredible. We spent the rest of the day around the pool and ended up having leftovers for dinner. After dinner we watched a movie and went to bed. It was a very relaxing way to end the week.

9/28: So today it was time to take our first time and repeat visitors downtown for the obligatory photo-ops at the Aruba sign at Nikky Beach and the “I (heart) Aruba” sign near the Renaissance. Then it was off to the flea market for a few things, yet another stop at Super Foods (I have figured out the parking scheme now that I’ve gone damn near daily) and back to the Surf Club. We did pool time till sunset and then back to the room to clean up and finally off to dinner with the family to Le Petit. I usually have steak and scallops, but they didn’t have scallops on the menu this year so the wife and I each went for the Grouper. DD had tenderloin and lobster, others had steak and shrimp. It was fantastic and everyone was satisfied with the meal and service. DW and I snuck off to MooMba for an after dinner drink by ourselves (our alone time is pretty scarce now that everyone else has arrived) then back to the room for another drink and to bed. You said it Jacki, and today was yet another great day in paradise.

glad that you figured out the parking at "superfoods". we finally figured out that if we park in the front, perpendicular to the front door, backing out of the space and exiting the lot is easier.

glad to hear that lapetit was fantastic

9/29: Breakfast at MooMba today. It is an all you can eat buffet for $11.95, plus you can upgrade to unlimited mimosas for $6.50 or juice for $3.50. The thing is, one mimosa is $6.50, so why not upgrade? You just have to tell them when you first order. It was cloudy a good part of the morning and afternoon hours, but that didn’t deter us from spending the day walking the beach and doing time in the lazy river. We walked down to the Ritz, but you really couldn’t see much from the beach. We watched some football at the pool bar with some disappointed Giants fans (aww, too bad) and just kinda hung out. For dinner we went to Nos Clubhuis at first so I could try lionfish. Well, they didn’t have accommodations for small children or much available on the menu so we abandoned that idea and went to Taste of Belgium. DW and I have been there many times, but no one else in our group had. Everyone was pretty satisfied with their meal, except my daughter. Her meal was removed from the bill. I wanted something light so I ordered a chicken avocado salad and tomato soup. It was a good meal, the soup with meatballs was delicious, but the chicken on the salad was a bit overcooked. We returned to the Surf Club and I watched the Patriots win. Yay, GO PATS!

Ooops, almost forgot. My sons girlfriend, who won the money game at bingo Friday, won 2 of the 4 games yesterday. My daughters friend won one of the others. Not too shabby, but their luck at the casinos hasn't been as spectcular.

9/30: It seems as though time is running out. With only three real days to go, we are struggling to get in everything we wanted to do. After breakfast in the room, we took off for downtown to get in some last minute shopping. There was a cruise ship in so it was a bit crowded, but I found a place to park easily enough. A quick stop at Lings for basics and we returned to the room and began eating up some of the lunch stuff we had. Then it was pool time. Seems as though the shorter our time remaining, the more we try to get in the sun. Since the kids and their friends had reservations on KuKoo Kunuku, we made spaghetti in the room so everyone could eat and have plenty of time to get ready. Then there was a problem. I had received an email earlier in the day saying that Kukoo had gotten our reservations and a confirmation email would follow. I never got a confirmation email but didn’t give it a thought since sometimes that happens, especially in Aruba. We tried calling the office earlier in the day, but they had already closed. Well, they waited for quite sometime and the bus never showed. So they went out around the high rise area, but said it was pretty dead. Needless to say, something that was highly anticipated and didn’t happen really had them down. They had also tried to make reservations for Mi Dushi and were informed that the boat was down for maintenance till 10/10.
