    Day 13

More work around the house but I went out to get some supplies and lunch to bring back. Our neighbour recommended a food truck just down from us called "Metin". She said it's the best kapsalon on the island! So off I went to the Do It Centre and to pick up some food truck lunch.

Metin (the owner) is from Turkey and made his way to Aruba via Holland and he's been here for fifteen years. He says he's the only Turk on the island. We chatted a bit about the Middle East while he made our kapsalon. I always find people who were born and raised in the Middle East have a fascinating perspective on what the outside world sees.

Back to The Manse and we dove right in. It was quite good - I had a mixed platter (lamb and chicken) while The Spouse had chicken. I would ask him to make the fries a little crispier next time but all-in-all we ate the whole thing. Something different to try and we'll go back.

Metin is located here - it's next to "Vecchia Estates" (which you can search in Google Maps) and there's a new Sherman Williams paint store going in right next door:

For the uninitiated, here's a description of kapsalon:

Some pool time while the contract work continued and then we hit the happy hour at Tierra Del Sol (cocktails priced in USD but charged in AWG - score! Every Friday from 5:00-7:00 at the clubhouse with random hors d'oeuvres being served) and ended up staying for dinner.

    A great day...

yes indeed a great day.........good lunch, contractors performing their appointed duties, floating in the pool and tierra del sol for hh and dinner.

i do not mean to be nosey, but what kind of work are you having done at your house by the contractors?
how did you come about hiring these particular contractors?

    thanks for taking the time

Mostly carpentry, wiring and having an external wall altered - having lived with the house for a little bit now, there are some things we wanted to change for convenience sake and also address those inevitable "Hmmm. I wish this was different." things.

For the contractors, we had a referral from our property management company. We want to see how the work pans out before making any recommendations/referrals. So far, so good though.
