we understand about the no talking about the show.

    re: the dust
aruba and the other abc islands have been hurting badly from "sahara dust" and lack of rain.
when we were there in may, the sky sometimes had a brownish tinge to it.

    you folks need rain desperately

Shirt posts are better than no posts Plus you are building our anticipation for the show! I'm going to need it in the spring to hold me over since we will most likely only have one trip next year, later in the year.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Thanks for the update, even if it's short. It must be as hard on you not to be able to share your excitement right now as it is for us to be patient. But I understand, you have an agreement with HGTV and as a gentleman, you will honor it.

Glad you found a vacuum! Yeah!

Hold on to your hats as this may be the most exciting "My Aruba Story" post you've ever read:

    We went to the dump.

The dump is not a hot, new restaurant - it's Aruba's landfill:

    http://www.serlimar.org/index.php/la...container-park

We had some excess garbage (recycling, actually - boxes) and heard varying reports of whether Serlimar (our waste management company) would pick up anything outside of the standard garbage container. We had three huge garbage bags of broken down cardboard and found out about the recycling bins at the landfill so off we went. It's located south of the airport near Arugas.

It's pretty stunning (and not necessarily in a good way) to see it - it's massive. A local told us they burn most of the garbage because of the huge amount.

And "no battery recycling program", a Selimar manager was embarrassed to tell us. Yikes. We'll take those home.

I hope Aruba can one day at least deal with the battery situation given how hazardous they are to the environment - especially an ecology as precarious as Aruba's.

Anyway, back in our gas guzzling/emissions spewing car <<cringe>> and we spent the day doing errands and picking up dinner at Superfood for the night. Some quality lazy time in the pool before making dinner and then turned in early.

See? The excitement never stops!! But, hey, how many people post about a dump run?

We're off to Wilhelmina tonight! I hope there's nothing battery-operated involved.

Sailed by the dump while on the Tranquilo.
it was smoldering and quite smokey
Capt Anthony just shook his head in disgust

Act..if you are on Facebook, "Like" Tranquillo Aruba. That is Capt Anthony's boat ...Cindy referred to him in her posting.
He is one of the most outspoken AntiDump people on the island.
That dump is a horrible mess and in this day and age there has to be a much cleaner way to "burn garbage".

The dump in W Dennis Ma...brings back fond memories.
My Grampa and I'd go (in the 1960s) and he taught me the fine activity of shooting rats. OMG

So, maybe you can add a "dump activity", to add to your dump stories. And of course you will have dump stories.

    Enjoy.

Just curious...will you rent vehicles during your time on the island or will you look for something more permanent?
Not sure when, but we will be back
