Again..another of my "Only In Aruba" Stories

Well, it has been hot here. Thrade Winds are blowing so it is bearable and also deliveries of Balashi and Heineken seem to be frequent and reliable.

Yesterday, we spent some time cruising around looking at houses and Villas we could never afford. There are some nice ones!!

As we drove back toward our Villa, we encountered another of our "Only in Aruba" moments. We came around a curve and there standing in the middle of the road was one of the biggest hogs (boars) that I have ever encountered. With a very nonchalant glance at us it then sauntered off into a neighbours garden. I have not had the heart to go today and see what destruction may have occurred.

I think you had too many Balashi and Heineken or Champagne.

I wish!! This was one big old guy. He had not shaven in a while as he was covered in a layer of black hair with a significant curling tail.

    Starting to think pork roast

I don't know what is happening here. It seems as if Aruba has gone agricultural. Down at Peidra Plat we encountered several Heifers..also black in colour. At Kong Fui they are selling Aruban grown tomatoes.......these are small and delicious. Try them...they are amazing. They are grown here on the island.

Is Aruba turning into the land of milk and honey

Is that common, wild boars? Is this something I might see while I'm there? I heard they are not nice creatures.

Also, I saw it was 95 yesterday, DH was not pleased! Is that common for this time of year, he's about ready to kill me because he wanted to go somewhere that was no hotter than 85.

The water temperature is no hotter than 85. Balashi temperature is usually about 45. That should help him adjust to the air temperature.

Hi I doubt very much you will encounter one. This was back inland from the HighRises and beaches. In 7 years it is the first I have run across in the wild.

The temperature question. Yes it has been hot!! Andrea is aware of my thoughts on how they report. To the best of my knowledge, the posted temp is privided through the Met Offoce in Oranjesataad. I am not sure if they post the Ostaad temperature or do any averaging. Due to Arubas varied terrain, temps can be different in various area. The area we were in yesterday is hilly and the valleys are not exposed to the Trade winds so it was very hot.. in the 100s yest when we returned to our home about 10 mins away the temps were 86 and we are exposed to continual trade winds off the north coast. Also the temp is comfortavle in mornig and drops down again in mid--late afternoon. So, it depends where and when you are out. Nothing that a cold drink or possible shelter in an airconditioned casino won't fix. Enjoy Aruba
