Red face Amsterdam Manor.... June 29

Soooooo..... having read a post by Trip-planner last night.... I thought I'd start my trip report early too with all good intentions of updating daily when I get to Aruba. Of course, there's a lot that goes into each trip.... that accounts for the early start!

Originally booked this trip for the Amsterdam Manor 6 months ago today.... kinda an early Christmas present. It'll be our first stay on Eagle Beach after many stays at the Radisson and the Hyatt before that. Some traditions will be broken and hopefully some new ones started.

I've been watching the calendar daily. About 2 months ago I discovered cargo shorts with a short inseam and elastic waistband that are great for a short old guy. Ordered one pair... then another and then another... now I'm up to speed on cargo shorts. Last night I set up my shirts to go into the suitcase... linen and cotton shirts on hangers with the sleeves pinned back and the total package in a plastic bag from the cleaners. That will fold nicely into the suitcase, already be on hangers.... and NOT need ironing when it's time to put them on! I actually set up my shave kit the other night with the necessary stuff and meds for 11 days.

In the past month I've started to book restaurant reservations, Mme J's, Quinta del Carmen, Passion's on the Beach and Las Ramblas for our first night.... others will be booked later as we still have some restaurants on the radar.

I touch my passport and travel docs daily.... don't want to let them get away. I panicked when I couldn't find my travel insurance papers.... however, they are in my Aruba 2015 folder in a pdf file.

I'm struggling with what books to take and just started Baldacci's Escape so I'll be enough into it to read it on the plane. There's a stack of choices on my dresser waiting to go into the suitcase when I make up my mind.

The pet sitter has been lined up for months... thank God for Donna. She stays at the house and cares for and loves 2 Pugs and a Himalayan....! This will the 4th year they've been in her care..... nothing to worry about here..... I've been stocking up on pet supplies and other sundries so nothing runs out during our absence.

I'm checking the forum many times a day and also reading restaurant menus too. Aruba is a wonderful culinary trip for me. More later.... gotta go look at my travel docs and passport again......

CP sounds like a great restaurant list. We have not been to MJ's yet. Maybe we will run into you at Bugaloes

Being from Europe I always take advantage of being awake at 6am the first 2-3 days and just go to the beach... have whole eagle beach practically by yourself.

Andrea... here's the shorts... great quality and great for short older guys without a 30 YO waist.....!

Haven't read Woods in a long time. The Will Lee series was his best. I read Baldacci, Connolly, Heywood, Parker (for a really light read), Sanford, Flynn, Child. Generally enjoy the books where the good guy triumphs over the bad guy...! Soooo nothing of any real social redeeming value...!
