I have definitely found that we cut our casino spending drastically when we stay at a place that doesn't have one right in the lobby. It's just so hard knowing there is money to be won just an elevator ride away....unfortunately money to be lost is more likely.

Happy to hear that QDC lived up to your expectations. We have been once and loved it. If you enjoy a good cocktail, the orange cosmo was delish! It will be hard to leave this off of our restaurant list in the future.
Not sure when, but we will be back

Dinner at Matthew's last night... nothing special.... but really nice place with good service, food and reasonable prices... DW to bed and me to Glitz. Had great luck at blackjack.... but not so great at video poker chasing an 8500 royal flush jackpot.

......told y'all we were boring.... just another long day at the beach with a choice of where we hung out.... breakfast, lunch and dinner here at AM.... dinner planned for 8 PM and hopefully catch the fireworks tonight. This afternoon included a nice Amstel Bright (3X) induced nap after lunch.

Enjoying the Aruba sunshine, the great food, and the casinos by night -- with afternoon naps included! That's exactly my kind of Aruba vacation! Are you sure you're not umpiring baseball games, too?

Wishing you good luck in the chase for that progressive royal flush jackpot!!!

CP how are the winds? have you noticed any (of what they are calling) sahara dust?

our weather guy on tv , 2 nights ago, mentioned the abc islands and some other parts of the caribbean that have been dealing with "sahara dust" now for a couple of months on and off.
when we were in aruba, we noticed it.

Winds were tough a few days ago and occasionally y'day and today. Nothing to chase us off the beach.

OK Passions on the Beach was wonderful last night! Food B+, Atmosphere A+ and Service A-.... and I can be pretty critical! Had reservations for 8 and had to wait 15 minutes and ended up with a front row table just a few from the north end of the beach. DW has spring rolls and then grouper with spicy shrimp. I had crab salad and then the tenderloin with mushrooms and asparagus. Food was served promptly with a great presentation. DW loved the lighted balls on all the tables.... I like to see my food and some of my meal was by touch..... I do think that's a guy thing! I finished with chocolate mousse and she had coffee. The Passions dinner was included in the romance package and I'm glad it was. I would not of chosen Passions based on an OK dinner a few years ago.

At 9 the fireworks started down by the Divi and we had a great view. I was a bit disappointed that the Hyatt didn't have them like they usually do on the 4th at 9. I had told a few people about them and was thinking I gave bad info. However... at about 9:25 the sky started to explode to the North.... thx Hyatt. We had a nice view of each display.

Walked DW back to the room and I played blackjack until 3 am at the Glitz and had a very nice evening and won some money... still in the red for the trip.... but I'm OK! Did have a bit of a problem playing with a couple of very inexperienced players that kept making the wrong play.... but they lost their money and I got down to business. No royal at video poker yet... but didn't lose there either!

This morning I met a woman (shoulda written her name down) a coupla doors down from us. Asked her why she had 4 dogs staying with her. She's arranging adoption for the dogs with one that I met going to PA in a couple of days. Nice person and noble cause. I know I've seen her and her group mentioned on the forum.

Breakfast today at Mango's and off to choose which front row palapa to enjoy. No lunch today and drinks at 2. We actually decided to pass on the De Palm sunset cruise that was booked and included in our package. We've done the sunset cruise in the past on a much smaller catamaran and just didn't want to deal with all the other people...... but, mainly wanted to spend a couple extra hours on the beach...... that's what we're here for!

Flies don't seem as bad or maybe we're just used to them. Serious waves on the beach today that were breaking along the shore all day with just a bit of seaweed being churned up. Got into the water lots of times and DW did her walks down past ABC. I can only go part way until my hip bothers me.

I finished my 4th novel since we've been here. Baldacci, Heywood, Greaney and Parker.... Parker really shouldn't count as Spencer is such a quick read.....

I just love it here in Aruba!

At the casino until 3:00 am, wow I have to give you credit! After being at the beach all day we're usually asleep by 10:00 (really probably 9:00).

Glad dinner at Passions and the fireworks worked out. It certainly sounds like it was worth the wait.
