I am sharing this report with my DH in hopes that one day we can try the low rise area! He still says he can't imagine us being too far from our favorite happy hour haunts. I am loving the palapa situation you are describing. Our plan is to add on nights pre or post timeshare rentals in different areas to see how we like them.

A taxi driver took us to the Manchebo on our way to dinner a couple years ago so we wouldn't miss the sunset. Walking through the lobby and onto the beach, it's definitely a beautiful area.
Not sure when, but we will be back

So happy things are ok at home.

Manchebo is a gorgeous property and beach area. Maybe someday, but for now I love the vibe at La Cabana and love having the families around for my kids to hang with

We stay at Manchebo whenever we need a few extra nights at the beginning or end of our trip. I can't say enough good things about Manchebo. We love it there. The staff is great and the beach is incredible. We are usually there around week 7. Sometimes there are a couple of kids there, but not enough to even notice. It is a quiet, laid back property, with a really fun bar. We always walk over from Costa Linda to visit the bar staff for happy hour when we are there. We love being in that area because there are a lot of restaurants and shops to walk to. There are many days that we never leave that area.

I'm the foodie and DW is great with me planning all of our dinners and is always willing to express a preference. I loved it that she was totally in love with Barney's last night. So much so that she had to have a yabadabadushi shirt...! Started with Firecracker which was a spicy shrimp cocktail in a hot aioli and then I had schnitzel and she had Parmesan Crusted Grouper and loved it.... so much food I couldn't finish and passed on dessert which was part of the early bird special. Great restaurant and fun décor. Service was especially noteworthy in that we were constantly being checked on and all of the servers were genuinely concerned that we were happy.

Walked over to the Radisson Casino after dinner and DW waited in the lobby while I cashed out a few dozen left over dollars in my player's account. Doubt they'll be good too much longer with the change of ownership.

Had a really interesting cab ride back to the AM after dinner. It was like being in the James Bond movie "Live and Let Die"........ The taxi was a 27 YO Continental with the upholstery totally done in a leopard print and really looked like a 'pimp mobile'..... the driver introduced himself as Honey and looked and acted like he coulda been a driver in the chase scene when Roger Moore's driver gets a dart in the neck on the parkway! I don't think any darts were discharged out the sides of the rear view mirrors.... but it really was spooky...! I'm sure some of you folks have seen this cab.

Got DW back to the room and walked up to the Glitz casino and stayed until after 2. It was a very productive night at blackjack and also at video poker..... no big jackpots, but some really nice walk away money from a coupla tables and a machine. Not in the black for the trip yet.... maybe later.

Breakfast at Mango and drinks on the beach at 1:30.... no lunch. Today was our last day on the beach and is always somewhat melancholy... Tonight Screaming Eagle for our last dinner.

I just saw a picture of Honey in his taxi the other day. It looks like a hoot! Glad you enjoyed your dinner at Barney's. We went there on our last trip and loved the food. Sorry to hear that your trip is almost over. It is always sad when it's time to go home.

I enjoy reading all your stories, JP, particularly about Honey, the cab driver! Wished there would be photos! LOL

Glad you and your wife had such a great and relaxing vacation. Wished it would go on longer, love reading about your little adventures.
