In our 5 times that we stayed at the Radisson you would never want to forget something in your room. Like Andrea said, the Amsterdam Manor is so small that it is a much shorter walk from the beach to the room. At the Amsterdam Manor no matter which room we've had, I could almost throw a rock from the beach to our room, they are that close.

We've stayed at Amsterdam Manor over 20 times now and have never looked back once we moved from Palm Beach to Eagle Beach. We always rent a car and the Palm Beach area is just a minute or so away (quick bus ride as well.) But we rarely even go to that area anymore - restaurants seem like those that we have at home and it's just too congested with people (when I want that we just go to South Beach in Miami for a long weekend - quicker flight. LOL!)

I actually "timed" my walk from our room at Amsterdam Manor to our palapa on the beach one day - less than a minute.

CP I love that you haven't even stepped on Aruba ground yet, and have a 4 page long trip report!

CPJ, we prefer Eagle Beach as a quieter location. Also, there are very excellent restaurants and casinos in walking distance.

Have you considered using an electronic reader for books? It's so much lighter and more compact. I have a basic one and it's loaded with a dozen or more books. It all weighs a few ounces and doesn't take a lot of space. Not to mention that e-books are cheaper.

I have a kindle..... just not ready to take the plunge. I prefer to handle a book and pass it along as soon as I'm done with it. I think I've made a lot of people happy over the years when they discovered a slightly used bestseller on a table in the lobby.

once you take the plunge and begin reading on your kindle.....you may not go back to paperback or hard cover.....kind of like if you stay in the eagle beach area, you may not go back to palm/hi rise

remember cp.....there is a nice little casino, walking distance, right next door at the lacabana.

Amsterdam Manor also has a "library" (book shelf) in the front desk area for guests to use for free. There are alot of books to choose from but some are in Dutch and some in English so, rest assured, it is not the Brights going to your head when you're trying to read the titles on some.

I like that they have a library. I'm another paperback reader who has yet to take the plunge.

Nice to see others enjoy it like I did.
