Glad you arrived safe, but sorry to hear the flies are looking for a free meal.
To avoid Passions set up we always take a palapa at the northern end of the beach. Perfect for staying until sunset. Though I will add that by the time Passions is ready to seat guests, you can easily relocate to that end of the beach.
Any turtle nests? Last year there were two in the area of the Amsterdam Manor. We were surprised this year that there were none.
Pelican Pier at sunset with a bucket of Brights!
Sunsets at Bunker Bar
LG Smith Steakhouse, Windows on Aruba,
Excited for your CP and your DW to finally be on our trip! I know you get very excited like the rest of us all counting down. I'm sure you and your wife both gave the newbies next to each of you on your flight great advice about Aruba. Good luck at the casinos this trip and looking forward to your reports. Have you had any brights for me yet? Have fun in the sun!!!
Up early today... well before DW for our first full day on the beach...... we really aren't exciting vacationers.... we just hang on the beach all day.
Breakfast at Mango's and it was a battle of the flies again. Fortunately we were under a fan and that minimized the critters.... but what about the plates and tongs and uncovered food ...... yuck. Decent breakfast for the money and wasn't busy when we sat at 8:45. Got to the beach at 9:30 and had our pick of front row palapas! A snack and couple of Amstel Brights around 1:30 and then another nap. The flies at Passions Beach Bar were taking over.... note to self: never get a drink with a straw there when the flies are around!
Watched the cruise ship come in this afternoon and by 2:00 had a group of noisy 'cruisers' nearby.... Had a couple of great naps on the beach and DW walked to the ABC and back a couple of times.
Dinner tonight at Mme J's.... and we really look forward to this every year. DW also wants to do Texas de Brazil again this year.... so we will!
Soooo..... Dinner was delightful at Mme J's last night. Got there a bit early... but no wait. We were seated in the garden next to the music. They were OK... but not the best we've heard there. We split a caesar salsd (really wanted bang bang shrimp or crab cakes but the portions are so huge here) and DW had her usual almond grouper and I had rack of lamb. Ended up with 2 desserts... coconut cream cake which is heavenly and a 'Happy Anniversary' chocolate mousse. DW doesn't do desserts... but I was a trooper and made a good dent in each. Everything about the meal and service and atmosphere was wonderful... And only one fly!
DW thinks I have celebrity status. As we're walking thru the bar on our way out... I heard my name called out.... what the.....???? It was Chef Kasi introducing himself to me. Nice meeting him.... very cordial and pleasant. Either he recognized me by my avaitar... or saw my note here yesterday for our dinner plans. I think that's where the chocolate mousse came from.... thank you Chef...!
After dinner we took a cab to the Hyatt and DW watched me lose some money at video poker, then we walked the grounds and along the beach to the Radisson. She took the 'early cab' back to AM and I stayed and gave my friends at the casino my donation and took the 'late cab' back.
Today was another boring beach day..... naps and dips and reading. Had breakfast at Mango's..... don't think the flies know where we sit. Had a couple of Amstel Brights at Passions Beach Bar and the flies were horrible. The young bartender said the flies were because of the waste treatment plant..... and that made me glad we skipped lunch today.
We both really like the property and the people. Seems like this time of year it's never a problem for a palapa any time of day. Tonight is Wacky Wahoo for our first time and really looking forward to it.
