    Day 12 May 20

Ok it poured rain and was quite chilly today. NOT!
Again, glorious weather. I would say this has been the best weather in 35+ trips.

We got a swim in at the pool. We intended to go over to the island this morning, but the ocean was incredibly rough and it only takes about 3 minutes for seasickness to set in so we skipped the boat ride/island today.

All afternoon we spent checking out some lesser known places for a possible stay in October or November.
We went to the Boardwalk, (Across from the Ritz) loved the place, did not love the price. $2500 plus tax for 10 nights. The one bedroom units are lovely and if price were no concern, we would stay there!

We checked out Bananas Apts and loved the property. The price was good too at less than $130 p night including tax. The downside is that there is only airconditioning in the bedrooms of the apartments. We are considering Bananas.

Also visited Ocean 105 and although the units are lovely and in our price range, there was no pool and we questioned security as we were able to walk right in to the lanai area (the gate was unlocked and propped open).

Also Paradera Park and LOVED it. There was nothing not to like....except it being a good 15 minute drive from the beach. (figuring in traffic) The rates were reasonable and it is a lovely lovely spot.

Our final stop was at Surfside Marina and we liked that as well....beautifully furnished, great pricing, but no pool. Yes ON the beach, but we are spoiled i guess and want a pool.

I really think so many of us need to look beyond the resort areas and check out these places as alternatives.

Dinner tonight was with forum member Karen Lutzker and her husband Aaron.......at Matthews. It was ribs night and the ribs were ok, not great. Their cole slaw is delicious and we enjoyed our visit with Karen and Aaron. Nice folks indeed.

The buffalo machine at the Crystal was finally kind to me.
Although not as fortunate at Rumpire, we are ahead on the stay, finally. So with those winnings, I booked airfare for son and d-i-l, to fly from Maine to Florida for Christmas week (with baby in lap) and booked our air to Maine for a week in July. So the $ is spent and my Pandora bracelet will have to go without a new bead and my ears will wear what’s in the jewelry box.

    Til tomorrow.

Still loving your daily updates. That was a good win at the Crystal to be able to book those flights... nice job! And thanks for continuing with your 'moderator duties' while on vacation.... it's obvious that it's a labor of love!

Money is well spent on those flights! If you're anything like me the sparkle of new jewelry lasts a week or so and then the new bauble ends up back in the box! Congrats on your win. I enjoyed reading about alternate places to stay as well.

Love the Buffalo!! Your evaluation and recap of your condo search reminds me of a show called House Hunters International.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Next Aruba trip to the Marriott Surf Club July 2018.

it also is somewhat easy as there is wifi here at the pool and at the beach.
my typing is even worse on the ipad, so i apologize

also mattmorr we gave that buffalo machine at the marriott, the old heave ho just the other evening.
every night i would stick $40 and win $0. enough!
a year or so ago, i did wonderfully on that machine and that is why i had been recommending it.

paul and i are leaning towards Paradera park for Oct/nov trip.
it is out in east nowhersville, but we have no huge schedule to follow, no big deal i guess to drive to the beach.

(renaissance pool will be down and the place will be a huge mess this fall….and they are now 4 weeks behind schedule…..therefore us looking somewhere else…and no availability at lacabana using my bluegreen)

Coming from the south (as if you were coming from the airport ) pass the crystal casino Maine trance and then on the right set back in a parking lot is Kay's Ample parking across the street. Or easy walk from bus stop.
