Here's a link to my video showing exactly how to get to King Ribs. You actually go on the drive in this video.

tomorrow, more of the same and hoping the wind picks up a bit.
mosquitos on ren island plentiful and very annoying.
    off does barely adequate job.
Andrea, we have found a sunscreen that doubles as mosquito repellent that usually does the trick for us when we go to my dad's lake house. You probably can't get it on the island, but keep in mind for next time. it's Bull Frog Mosquito Coast. If your local stores don't carry it, it's on drugstore.com
Not sure when, but we will be back

    [QUOTE=Andrea J.;224350]MONDAY May 7

    woke to sun, no breeze.
spent 4 hrs at ren island, mosquitos were horrendous.......off has not helped.

Can't believe you are having a tough time with the misquitos. Whats up with that?
In all our years ( 15) we have never had a problem with them. I probably just jinxed myself and my family.

Keep posting, I am living your vacation with you.

Who have you met up with from the board besides ~Amy~?

    Enjoy !!!!!

    mosquitos today not so bad.
they did go around with the fogger on ren island this morning.

    0 breeze

it was not ~amy~ , it was another amy who is a reader, but not a poster.

we met up with kathy (sugar) at the casino the other night AND have plans to meet bostonak and arubabob and marcio/christene campos.

    today's events.........

    ren island early

weather partly cloudy and not a drop of rain or a hint of a breeze. (tomorrow they say it is coming back!!)

visited a friend that has a few horses an rode all 3.
one does not like saddles so rode her bareback and it was smooth sailing (paso fino)

back to resort for quick shower and dentist appt, which was PAINLESS and enjoyable, yes truly enjoyable.

    and.......dinner at KITCHEN.
    excellent.
we split a huge caesar salad, he had a burger and me a chicken breast and ate there. under $22

made a visit to the crystal casino and got bored, moved on to the alhambra and played blackjack for an hr, breaking even. so that is a win for us.

thinking i need to find a chiropractor as my piriformis is leading to sciatic pain is beginning to show its ugly self.

cindy in your 15 yrs coming to sonesta island , now ren island, were you ever disallowed bringing bottled water onto the island?
2x now, we have been told to put our Nalgene sport water bottles away.
We always bring water wherever we go.
The sign says no food or beverages.
    but water, ? Really?!!!
We do eat lunch at the beach restaurant.
typically we split a club sandwich, and each order an iced tea or diet soda.
so we are supporting the restaurant.

But, while sitting on the beach reading we are sipping out of our sports water bottle and have been "called on the carpet and told NOT ALLOWED". we explained that it is ice water, nothing more, nothing less..
apparently they want us to BUY their AWA water bottles.

i wonder what's up with that..was just there in march on our 25th trip..all but one at the ren..we have a small black soft sided cooler with a yellow batman logo on it and we usually have balashi, ice tea, water some rum and diet pepsi in there and have never been bothered..we do eat at papagayos..only once did a boat driver tell us to put our cooler in our beach bag and he got real nasty about it..i complained to mgt about it at the marina hotel and the next day there was a nice fruit basket in our room as an apology..i realize the hotels are trying to make money but i would rather spend my money on good food than booze..that's why they say BYOB..

It is unfortunate indeed that we were called out on the water.
It was stupid and it was embarrassing.

Of course when i pack our bag in a little while, i will add the 2 nalgene water bottles again.
