We spent the better part of the morning running errands and the best part of the morning was SCOTTS BRATS.
Scott and Leslie's place was 3rd on our list of 7 stops this morning!!
we each ordered an egg muffin and i had a V8 with all of the fixins!!
hey have a great set up and terrific food.
if you are hungry, on a budget and in the area, it is a great spot for breakfast or lunch.
spent a little time on ren island and it was glorious there today.
snorkeling was good, but we are both suffering from sore backs i think due to the uncomfortable lounges here at the resort. paul is currently on the floor, sound asleep with pillows under his knees. apparently the floor is better than the bed?!?!?!?!?!
dinner tonight was at Madame Janette.
We both had beef tournedos raymon with au gratin potatoes, spinach and white asparagus.
there were no mosquitos, a beautiful breeze and was very comfortable.
reservations were necessary and it looked about 80% full when we left at 7:30.
Then we made our way over to the Crystal Casino for what would have been a donation, but again we came out a few dollars ahead.
Tomorrow an EARLY start to the day with some ARF-Aruba errand and then 2 more errands and we hope to get our sorry buttocks on the beach before sunset. One of the errands is finding a chiropractor for dear hubby.
We met a lovely lady named Karla tonight.
She works in the government offices and we had a wonderful chat.
She loves her country and appreciates the tourists.
I hope that she joins this forum as she had some wonderful things to day about the aruban people, their dreams, goals and their history.
We talked a lot about how "aruba heals".
If you think about it, it really does.
So instead of One Happy Island should it be One Healing Island?
So glad the weather changed. Sounds like you are having a great time - although busy!! Slow down - ha! Hope you find someone to help Paul. I totally agree - Aruba does "heal". We say that all the time. Alot of our friends don't understand our Aruba vacations. They ask why we keep going back to the same place - just for that reason. We work hard all year, deal with all sorts of stress, but the minute the wheels of the plane hit the tarmac - ahhhhhh, life is good. I hope Karla joins us. It's nice to hear the other side of the story. Enjoy the rest of your time and give the doggies a hug for me!
it is now after midnight.
tuesday was sunny with occasional clouds.
stopped in at Sugar (forum member) house early this morning and there was a brief downpour between the ren and her house in wayaca neighborhood.
bla bla bla, same old same old beach, snorkel, listen to audiobooks, dinner was late this evening, 9 pm at Plaza which was good...we just had sandwiches. we had a late lunch at 3 pm of leftover MJ dinner.
visited the alhambra and crystal and again we broke even, well a little better than even.
paul was up $68 and me up $14.
that means we get to play one more night hahahahahahaha
so, it is saturday night and we have been home for 30 hrs.
when last wrote of my aruba story it was tuesday night or the wee hours on wed morning.
wed.......sunny and gorgeous.
we went snorkeling with KENT's co ARUBABOB and Stuart was our guide.
we snorkeled off of mangel halto beach area out into the spanish lagoon and near mike's reef. it was spectacular. if you have the opportunity, i recommend this snorkel adventure.
wed afternoon we spent time at ren island beach and then to a friend's house for a great dinner.
evening was at the alhambra where we did win a few dollars.
thursday........we were a bit sluggish (lazy) and did not do much other than pool and hanging which was just FINE! weather was sunny and breezy.
dinner was again at hung paradise (3 visits in 2 weeks is a new record for us)
that evening we played at alhambra (craps) and broke even. We then went to the crystal and broke even there too. we consider breaking even a WIN.
friday got to the airport , flight was delayed an hour and half, so spent time reading and walking around the crying rooms. our flight aua to mia was smooth and uneventful. slept most of the way. the flight from mia to orlando was another story. it was bumpy and rocky and people were screaming with fear. the worst 5 minutes of turbulence i have ever encountered. i was freaking out and fearful but others were really screaming. after about 5 minutes of hell it smoothed out considerably and we got to orlando unscathed. it was only a 30 minute flight.
if that was my first flight ever, i would NEVER set foot on another plane.
so that's about it.
weather during the first 8 days was unusual...........lack of wind, showers made for much frustration.............but the last 6 days were glorious.
