    Aruba 2014

We arrived Wednesday afternoon, picked up our car from Royal and headed for our night at the Holiday Inn. After a long day of travel, we had a light dinner at Salt and Pepper, a couple of drinks at MooMba, and a small win at the casino. Thursday, after our traditional first breakfast at Scott’s Brats, we moved next door to our timeshare at the Surf Club. Ah, the lazy river, need I say more? Dinner was a pizza from the pool bar and that’s kind of becoming tradition too. We usually get a pizza the first night there. Friday morning up early and off to the fitness center? Yeah, as we get older we are becoming more conscious of our weight, and everyone knows the meals and drinks can certainly pile on the pounds. Okay, enough of the depressing thoughts. After a quick trip to Super Foods for essentials it was back to the lazy river. We went to Pelican Nest for a quick drink and I had that Bright I promised you CP Dinner was at Barney’s where I had the 5 slider special and DW had the Parmesan grouper, which had her in tears of joy. Barney's is fast becoming one of our favorite places to eat on the island, fantastic owners and the service and food is wonderful.

Happy Labor Day everyone. The weekend started with breakfast at Scott’s again. There is a new breakfast sandwich that isn’t on the menu yet, Al’s special, very spicy and good. We laid around the pool and met Scott and Leslie for dinner at Amazonia. Sunday around noon, I came down with what I hope is just a 24 hour bug. I’m finally able to drink water, so hopefully I’ll be back on line later today.

Feel better soon! The start of the trip sounded great before that. Love your description of the grouper at Barneys; I am adding it to our list now!
Not sure when, but we will be back

Don't be sick.... even Amstel Bright cannot fix that!.... Seriously.... I hope it's way less than a 24 hour bug.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I seemed to come out of it late last night after climbing back into bed with 2 blankets. For some reason I just couldn't get warm, I was getting chill bumps sitting in the sun by the pool. Today was much better, I woke up hungry and had my first solid meal since Saturday night, so I guess it was actually a bit more than 24 hours. I still took it easy and we did a walk down the beach to Bugaloe. JC waited on us and DW and I each had a margarita, curly fries and grilled cheese for lunch. JC commented on my watch (I have kind of a watch fetish) and I said it was the only way to tell time now that the Westin clock was gone. He and Martun both howled and Martun told me that before they took the clock down they painted the numbers in glow in the dark paint, problem was they didn't paint the hands, so everyone was wondering why bother. Then they said why worry what time it was on vacation and I said you had to because all of the places on the beach had happy hours at different times. Again we all laughed. In all we had a great time there and will definitely be back. We're back at the Surf Club now for a little rest before deciding on a dinner choice. Hopefully the rest of the trip will be more exciting.
