CP, I couldn’t agree more. We had leftovers in the room for dinner and I woke up this morning famished and suggested the breakfast buffet at MooMba. DW was so glad I wanted to go out she just couldn’t have been happier. A nice big omelet cooked to order, Dutch potatoes, sausage, and other sides including unlimited mimosas was a great way to get back into the swing of things. It was kind of overcast this morning, so we decided to go downtown to look around and do a little shopping. We stopped into Kay’s and got DW the Palm Beach Aruba bead for her Pandora bracelet and I went ahead and got DD the Aruba flag bead for hers, gotta get something for the one holding the fort while we’re gone. We had a drink at Iguana Joe’s then decided while we were downtown to stop by West Deck. Okay, I’ve read all about the West Deck in previous posts, but OMG. What a beautiful place, awesome food and drinks. DW saw a sign walking in that said “kiss the cook”, after we had our Balashi Grouper Fingers, we both kissed the cooks. Really, I have pictures. We pulled ourselves away and headed back to the high rise, made a quick stop at SuperFoods, then back to the Surf Club for a quick drink and a nap. Dinner is being discussed, with Taste of Belgium running in first place.

Sounds good WaltVB. Glad you're feeling better--it's stinky to be sick while on vacation! My sister and I tried Barney's last year on Scott's (of Scott's Brats) recommendation. We were very pleased with the meal and the service. We arrive in a few days and will be going to Barney's again I'm sure. And maybe we'll happen to meet you at Scott's Brats some day for lunch. We're staying at Playa Linda so will be frequenting his establishment several times I'm sure.
And Andrea J, when you said for WaltVB to do the bratt diet, I thought you were telling him to go to Scott's Brats again! hahahaha I've never heard of the bratt diet before your post, but will keep it in mind whenever I'm sick again.

The bratt diet, lol. I thought Andrea was pulling my leg too until I read her entire post. Guys please don’t take my post the wrong way. I did not have food poisoning. My illness was caused neither by Scott’s Brats or Amazonia. They are both outstanding places to eat and I will definitely return to both in the future. Okay moving on, SIL arrived yesterday for her first visit. We picked her up at the airport and took her straight through downtown for full affect. Rush hour crazy traffic, cruise ship departing additional traffic, perfect first impression and she loved it. We also had to change rooms at the Surf Club yesterday, so as you can imagine it was an action packed day. SIL wanted to do dinner in a tropical setting, so what would be better than the end of the pier at Pelican Nest? Nothing. So off we went, walking there in the sand at sunset. We had some Almond Fish Fingers and I got the ceviche. Even though it’s on the app menu, it was almost a meal in itself. It was also some of the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was Carlos, and he gave us the most attentive, caring and entertaining service we have ever had there. After dinner we went to Stellaris, SIL and I made donations and DW got enough back for several rounds at MooMba on the way home. I know this is pretty long, but let me relate one more thing that happened. Tuesday night at the Manager’s reception we met a very nice couple from CT. We talked, drank and just got along great. We had recommended Barney’s for dinner and they went that night. We ran into them last night at Stellaris and they told us when they came out of the restaurant, their car was gone… vanished… stolen. Ron and Eleine called the police and about 30 minutes later they showed up, we all know how “far” the police station is from Barneys, they could have crawled there in half the time. They got that insurance that most of us don’t and after a cab ride to the airport got a new car from Avis. They are still waiting for the police report, but they know the chief of police through an acquaintance, so hopefully all works out for them.

    OH no stolen car.
If you see the folks again, please ask for an update.

Was the car originally rented thru Avis?

The meal at Pelican Nest sounds delicious.
Have fun and thanks for sharing.

Andrea, yes the car was rented through Avis. He said that he always buys the insurance and it has finally paid off. I always deny the coverage, because like many others, I thought my credit card covered loss. He says you have to call your credit card company and specifically ask if the car is covered in Aruba and what exactly is covered.

Yesterday was a great slow day. DW made awesome fried egg sandwiches with bacon and Gouda cheese and then we made a quick trip to SuperFoods for a resupply of essentials, you know rum and mixers. SIL lived in Europe for several years, and was very impressed with the selection here. Purchases complete it was back to the SC and out to the pool. We stayed by the pool/lazy river till happy hour was over and went back to the unit for a quick nap. My BIL couldn’t make this trip, but smoked a pork butt, pulled it, and froze it for us to have. We had that “porky goodness” for dinner and then did a casino hop. We went to Stellaris, Hyatt, Radisson (so nice), etc., We hit every one in Palm Beach from one end to the other. End result? We are all even or slightly ahead for the trip. No big wins, but breaking even is a win for us. SIL actually was enough ahead to buy rounds at MooMba before calling it a night. We got back to the room, made cocktails and watched a movie before packing it in.

Saturday was go downtown day. We took SIL shopping for her to get a few souvenirs to take home. DW and I bought a couple of signs for the Tiki hut, a few Iguana Joe’s t-shirts, and I indulged my watch fetish (and rewarded myself for making it another year) with a couple of Nixon watches from Bula Surf. On the way back we stopped at the flea market for a quick run through to see if anything caught our eye. We noticed both yesterday and last weekend that only about one third of the stalls are occupied. Not sure what that’s about, but the newer flea market nearer the Valero station seems to open a lot more now. We got back to the Surf, hit the pool and hung out till going up for nap time and dinner. We took a walk down to MooMba for a nightcap and Joey, the bartender made his famous Flaming Lamborghini for a honeymooning couple. If I could figure out how to imbed it, I would share with you, as DW took a video of the process. In any case, it was tall and flaming, a very impressive presentation.

We saw the stolen car couple and they have received a police report in English and have started the claim process.
