    Aruba trip 6/25 to 7/6

Good morning- we had a great day yesterday. We left St. Louis at 6:00 am to go to Miami. Interesting event happened at the airport. I failed the palm test. I had to leave with the TSA agents to go into a private room for additional screening. My 12 year old started freaking out, so my husband had to console her. I asked the agent about the results. She thought it was caused by my lotion that was on my hands. Won't be using that lotion again when traveling

We arrived in Miami on time. Ride was smooth and no issues! We had lunch in Miami at the Islander Bar and Grill. Good food and awesome drinks! Ride from Miami to Aruba was extremely bumpy. Pilot had the "fasten seat belt" on whole trip. Arrived about 20 minutes early. Lines were long in the customs area.

Before our trip, we contacted the owner of Aruba VIP tours to arrange a transfer. Highly recommend! The owner was on time. Took us on a brief tour of downtown before heading to the Marriott. He is very nice! He talked about the history of Aruba. We arranged our 8-hour private jeep tour with his company so we were given a discount on of our transfers. They will be providers three transfers.

Room at the Marriott room was not ready when we arrived. Lauren (11 years old) and I changed into our swimming suits and hung out at the pool. She already met some friends. Ken and Kaitlyn (12 years old) went on a walk along the beach and took pictures. Beautiful view from our room! Nice room

After the pool and beach, we decided to go for a walk around the Palm Beach shopping area. Went to Pelican's Nest for dinner. Ken had the grouper fillet- great! I had the king fish special- good. Both dishes came with veggies and rice. Lauren had chicken nuggets and side salad. Kaitlyn had hamburger and side salad. Each had a virgin pińa colada. Ken and I had 4 drinks. Bill came to $129.00 with the 15% service change. Recommend to eat, but wouldn't go again on this trip. Great views!

After dinner- we walked on the beach and went through the Marriott Surf Club and the Ocean Club. Can't wait to move to the Surf Club today. Bell hops will move our stuff for us.

    Follow up questions-

    1. Where is Scott's brats?
    2. Where is Linda's pancakes?

Will post more tomorrow! Thank you for reading!

    you asked....
    Follow up questions-

    1. Where is Scott's brats? On the beach @ Playa Linda....just a little bit beyond Pelican Pier.
    2. Where is Linda's pancakes? Linda's is on Palm Beach Rd. Coming from the Surf Club heading south, make a left at the lights where the McDonalds is. Follow that rd about a half mile and Linda's is on the left in a strip mall kind of place next to the Valero gas station.

Yes there was a sidewalk on Palm Beach Rd. I'm pretty sure they were all the way except in front of Valero gas station next to Linda's.

Lbailey it is a far walk from the Surf Club. I wouldn't walk on the main highway Sasaki Hwy. (L.G. Smith Blvd). I pretty sure there are no sidewalks there. From the Surf Club I walk on the beach and go through the holiday Inn to the street (J.E. Irausquin Blvd). Walk south to Palm Beach Rd. Cross at Palm Beach Rd. where South Beach Centre mall is. You will see the Hard Rock Café & Gianni's Restaurant. Walk inland and cross at the light (Mc Donalds). Linda's is on the left about a 5-7 minute walk from the traffic light. Personally, I wouldn't walk it from the Surf Club in the heat. You can take a taxi there and then decide if you can walk back. Linda's is closed on Sundays.
