    ArubaMArk's November 20-27 trip Report

I have a list of stuff, as I thought of things between work and getting ready for the holidays I would just write them down so this list might not be in order. I know a lot of you like to re-live the reports a little, mine might have you bouncing around a little bit.

Letís start by saying the weather was absolutely beautiful, everyday between 88-91.

We saw a lot of new faces at the Renaissance this year and also missed a few we have seen in the past.

(Renaissance all-inclusive)I was told by a friend we have seen there the past few years that their all inclusive is different now which they werenít aware fo when they bought into it. I think itís either $110 or $120 per person and kids under 12 are free. We just might do this next year especially the way I drink Balashiís but still, even with the kids you can order whenever you want. They removed a few places in the Ren Marketplace that they offered in the past and they also took away raft and kayaks and the pool and island. I donít know why, canít figure that one out. My friends biggest concern was they got rid of Domestic beer. All they offer as far as beer is Balashi. Being my friend is a Coors light drinker it didnít work out well for him but he bartered with some of us around the pool. J

We only went out out 2 dinners this year. My 3 year old son Chase is just way out of control when you bring him out. You know how it is in Aruba, slow and relaxing at most restaurants. A perfect environment for a 3 year old NOT to be in. So we ordered a lot of dinners locally and just ate in thr room. It was a lot easier. We ordered from Casa Tuaís, which is another story Iíll get to in a bit. Paddock, Subway, and taco Bell. Casa Tuaís pizza was very good but they messed my order up. After the island one day my wife and myself took the boat into the main hotel to stop and get some cologne / perfume. While over there we decided we would have CT pizza that night so we walked up and they gave us the number to call when we were ready to order. The number on the menu was for another CT somewhere else on the island so they had to call them and explain and remake our order. Oh well no biggie I had a Balashi while waiting on the balcony outside. After getting my pizza I asked for a small plastic container to put some hot oil in for the crust. Anyway, I shoot the bottle of oil and the cork was broke so I shook it all over the bar, chair and floor. Always something with us, we had a laugh.
The two dinners we went out for was to the Buccaneer and to Old Man and the Sea. Buccaneer was the same, I had my bisque but never saw or heard back from Angela. The other dinner out Bully took me and DW to OMATS. It was a very romantic atmosphere; we had a bench seat / table thingie right in front of the water and the little pier there. They had a guy playing guitar and singing some songs which I was told was a new person there, he was pretty good. I ordered the lobster which was delicious. DW ordered the filet, it was ok we both had better. Sadly the neighbors dog was by our table and DW fed him most of her filet. Real nice huh? Itís only money who cares? Not sure if it was worth it. Beautiful sunset and surroundings but the cost of meal plus $50 for a the taxi ride there and back, not sure. I know itís only money right?
For Thanksgiving we went to the Aquaruis at Ren Hotel. While everyone had Turkey of course I had more lobster and shrimp. I never was a big fan of Turkey anyway.

As always it was great to our Aruban friends, Bully, Pierre, and Hubert. Of course all of our friends at Renaissance, Linda G, Julio, Jorge, Maruska, and Elizabeth. It would be nice to see a few new faces at the island bar, there are some deadbeats over there. I wish Iwan the old bartender.
We missed seeing Danadog and SanNic44, it would have been nice to meet up. Maybe next time.

Went food shopping shortly after we landed. My dad and myself took both kids to give my DW and mother a little time to chill since the flight was a little crazy with Chase. It was cool, we went to Certified, I like Lings better. But I am glad we went there because once we got there Sinta Klaus showed up with 2(not sure), the kids were excited to see him and they got some candy from Santa helpers.

Iím sure I missing a bunch of stuff but I have been putting this off long enough. We did what we enjoy the most. Soak up the sun. We like to just hang by the pool or on the beach at the island. We never made it to the Surf Club either to check it out as planned. One thing for sure our next family trip will be at least 10 days if not 2 weeks. One week, 5 full days goes way to fast for all the packing and stress getting there and back.

On Friday 11/27 we celebrated our daughterís 6th b-day party at the pool before we left for the airport. Linda Garcia had picked up a delicious cake for us and some balloons. We sang happy b-day with friends and family and shared cake with everyone there including Natlia and Fatima from the pool bar and of course Linda Garcia. She helped make her b-day in Aruba special and she is a dear friend to us.

There is a store I want to mention that we will not be returning to anymore. Itís called Rage, itís a store at Ren Marketplace. They sell silver jewelry. My wife makes her way to that store every year to buy something for herself and also for gifts to bring back home. Anyway, she went in this year and found a watch she wanted to purchase, nothing crazy $140, the girl that was helping my wife told her that everything was going to marked off 15%-20% on Saturday and to come back. We were leaving that Friday before so we went back and asked to speak to the managaer to explain that we come every year and that we were leaving the day vefore the sale, could you please acklowedge the sale price for us. The 2 girls were discussing god knows what for about 5 minutes and they proceeded to deny us. I said we have been coming for many years and you will not honor the sale price over a day? She said sorry. I said donít be sorry, we will never be back again, you just lost a customer that comes in every year. When we got home my DW found her watch $90 free shipping so we got it cheaper anyway. But regardless they lost a customer.

Overall as usual we had a great time, just went extremely fast this year. Hopefully as our son gets older we will get our dinners back again. We look forward to a longer stay next year.

    thanks for the trip report.
you are "smart parent" by realizing that you son just does not belong yet in a restaurant for a lazily enjoyable dinner. smart and very courteous on the part of you and your wife.

Thx, we realize it's not a good idea for us and for others who want to have a quiet and enjoyable dinner. The plane ride, well that's another story. We can't do much about that.

Sounds like you had a good time! Smart thinking about restaurants and children. Someday maybe our paths will cross and we can have a Balashi, But I kinda got hooked on Amstel light this year. Better than in the states and bigger cans at the bar, diffrent street same ending
