All of the Marriott properties were feeling like a hike to me by the end of the week. When we stay at the Surf Club, we always cut through Holiday Inn and walk the rest of the way on the beach side. It feels faster that way, maybe its just the view? I guess that wouldn't really help in the rain though. Wish we would have made it to the comedy show. We couldn't agree on a night and then the week just slipped by. How was Sand Bar when you went by? That place seems like it would be a lot of fun, but were never there late enough to see any action.
Not sure when, but we will be back

We actually stopped at the sand bar one night. Was too drunk to really assess the crowd but from what I can recollect many of them were far better dressed than we ever manage on vacation. Seems like a very trendy/hip spot. On the surface its not really my kind of place but since they have a 2 for 1 happy hour special it is actually just my kind of place. Not to mention its really fun seeing a group of selfy taking 20 somethings in their carefully planned outfits attempting to look cool and then saddling up next to them at the bar completely crushing their vibe.

Paul and I have been too old and very "un"cool for a long time.
however, with a couple of drinks we suddenly are 20something again!

That stamp you get at immigration means you are plenty cool enough.

Woke up early to cook breakfast for the lady. Bacon, eggs, bagels and OJ. We hardly ever get to eat bacon so its always something I look forward to on vacation. Today I learned about the dangers of cooking shirtless in a home that isn’t your own. Went to serve eggs onto our plates on the dinner table and I must have been on autopilot. Pivoted to the left and there was a chair where there wouldn’t have been one in our home, the hot pan hit the chair and my shirtless stomach hit the hot pan. Ouch! Didn’t seem that bad, midgrade first degree burn was my guess. Ate breakfast, loaded up the jeep and headed out to Palm Beach.

Beach was crowded today. Judging from the matching towels there must have been a large cruise ship in port. Since this was our first day at Palm the chair rental guys swarmed us, they usually learn by the second visit. Spent the morning floating on Papasans and trying to figure out why people need to take so many selfies. Have you seen those selfie stick things? We watched one couple take selfies for what must have been an hour. I know it shouldn’t bother me but for some reason it just did..

Sometime around 1:30 we decided it was time to visit Scott’s Brats. Walked along the beach, place was crowded today. As soon as we approached Marianella recognized us, our faces not the names, but she did remember what we ordered. I was impressed. Italian beef sandwiches with hot giardinera. To be perfectly honest this is probably my favorite thing to eat in Aruba. Didn’t get a chance to talk to Scott and Leslie today because they were so busy. Good thing I knew this was only the first of many trips to Scott’s.

For the rest of the day we just floated and people watched, two things that Palm beach seems made for. Came to the conclusion those selfie sticks had to be at the top of the most gifted items list, everyone seems to have them… except us.

Left the beach about 4:30 to go get cleaned up and have a few cocktails. Tonight’s dinner was at Texas de Brazil. Gorging myself with beef is another thing I rarely get to do in real life. Such a shame because I seem to be so good at it. Kind of felt bad for one waiter who seemed to be very new. He was carrying around Parmesan crusted pork or something like that, which no one wanted. They must make the new guys carry the least desirable meats because there was another new guy carrying around something no one wanted. Had a pitcher of Sangria with dinner. In my opinion Texas de Brazil has the best sangria on the island.

After dinner walked around for a bit and ended up over by the water show. The show wasn’t going on but the music was playing so we just layed back and looked up at the stars as the music played. Nearly fell asleep there but then figured if we were going to doze the beach would be far superior. So we headed over there and commandeered a couple of beach chairs…. much better. Between the sound of the ocean, the breeze and the stars we nearly did fall asleep. Actually I think I caught myself snoring at one point.

Swung past Moomba for a couple of Balashis and then walked on home. Started to read Putkowskis second book when we got back to the villa. I guess its safe to say that at this point we are fans of his.

Wow you are accident prone! First the wrist then the burn? No more drinking when cooking or lifting. :>) Enjoy! Keep the reports coming.
