Bagpipes on the Beach

Strange thing happened to me. Mrs. 44 and Cousing of 44 and I were walking along Palm Beach after a lovely Sunday Brunch at the Hyatt. We heard the sound of bagpipes and progressing on, discovered a fellow playing bagpipes at the waters edge in front of the Playa Linda. Now, this was a first for me. I've heard plenty of bagpipes in the US, in Scotland, and a few other countries, but never in Aruba. I wanted to ask the man some questions, but he was in the middle of the music and did not want to interrupt. I snapped a few photos, one of which can be seen at this link:

You just never know what you'll see in Aruba. Keeps it fun. Maybe someone knows this fellow.

Bon dia.

Jacki,

That was me. I ate most everything, too. Took me over 2 hours to fill up. Now I'm going to have trouble flying because I won't fit in the seat of that little plane.

What does the patch on his bagpipe say? I know many members who are part of the Emerald Society which is a Police and Fire organization. If you can provide a larger photo of the patch, I might be able to help identify at least the organization.

Regards,

Retagger,

The badge on the pipes says, "Police and Fire Emerald Society Pipe Band, New Jersey, Essex County Chapter."

Cool.

I know many members of this branch as I work in Essex County in New Jersey. Many of my co-workers belong to this branch.

It is a small world....

David

Wow, and I feel self conscious about annoying other people by playing guitar on the beach.

Andrea,

There were very few people on the beach and no one within about 30-40 yards. A few people did like us and took some photos. It was an interesting phenomenon because it was unexpected.

As for the kilt factor, I have not further data.
