    Day 4…trying to catch up!

First full day at the Ocean Club. I got up first and made coffee and went down to get the palupa. Our old friend #302 was available! Grabbed it and towels and back to the room.
Made breakfast in the room with our shopping results from Superfoods. Eggs..ham..toast..nothing special but good. Throw a little gouda in scrambled eggs…and all is right with the world! Each of us made a sandwich to snack on later in the morning because we usually eat late lunches and dinners.

Beach was fantastic this morning. ..a little overcast but that kept the heat from searing us! Ocean Club beach areas much nicer and less crowded than the Hilton area. So nice to be back home. All the staff here are so nice…they all speak to you. .all the time when you make eye contact. I love that..I always smile and say good morning to most everyone. …if your in a happy place..be happy and share it.

Finally got hungry around 2:30ish… I was craving calamari. .so we went over to Waves ..the Marriott pool bar. Got calamari. .Deb got burger and I got chicken quesadilla. Food was great…better than Ocean Club. ..couldn’t eat it all..so have nibbles leftover in the fridge.

We planned on cooking for dinner so while Deb stayed on the beach, I ran to the seafood store by Superfoods. This place is great. I got two fresh red snapper filets for $12, ran back into Superfoods and grabbed another lemon, garlic and several other things. So..next time I go. ..I have to compare snack stuff prices …we packed stuff like snacks, coffee, raw sugar.etc….thinking we would save a ton (we have done this in the past too). Bottom line. .. thus far….maybe saved $4…..seriously? ?? I do pack a Fifth of rum and vodka..those are no brainers..but all the other stuff…realizing that the stress over bag weight is not worth the small savings. Since it is just the two of us. .we didn’t try the Price Club thing. .may do that if I so generously allow my children (grown…so don’t freak out..lol) to come back.

Stayed on the beach till almost sunset…then hit the new hot tub(nice)..then back up to our balcony. .made a drink and finished watching the sunset. Baked the snapper with butter, lemon and garlic. .had leftover rice and salad..easy.
Walked over to the Marriott hotel. .met with smoky nasty from the casino. .hotel great once you get beyond that…back to the balcony for a nightcap.

Till tomorrow my friends…doing better now…this post written in MS Word on the tablet. .then cut and pasted.
Tomorrow is Father’s Day…Happy Father’s Day to all dads..will call kids tomorrow.

    Thanks
    Brad & Deb

    Day 5 -Sunday. .Father’s Day!

Deb let me sleep in..she went down and got the palupa! We made breakfast in the room and ate on the balcony …very nice!

Sun was hot today. .met up with a guy we met two years ago. Spent most of the day in the water with a few cocktails. .had leftovers for lunch sine we were going to Barefoot for dinner!

Left Ocean Club at 6 for a 6:30 reservation at Barefoot. Got there around 6:20 They were fantastic. .sat us right up front and brought us 2 glasses of champagne. Even though or anniversary isn’t until August, this is our Anniversary trip!
For appetizers, Deb got the beef carpaccio and I got the escargot in mushroom caps baked with cheese. They were $12.50 each and very good..highly recommend.
For dinner, Deb got the shellfish trio (lobster, shrimp, scallops )..over mashed potatoes and veggies $39, I had the snapper Amsterdam ..baked with cheese and breadcrumbs and a sauce on top $26..both very good .
    Coffee crème Brule $7 for desert..wine and a drink..about $135ish with tip…great meal..great view.

One note, Since it was Sunday night, locals were out swimming and enjoying the beach beside us with music playing. .didn’t bother us but if you want a more romantic night…pick something other than Sunday.

Back to the Ocean Club for nite cap and swim and hot tub. Called my Dad and our kids earlier In the day…all in all a great Father’s Day!

The last time we were at Barefoot the kids were playing on the dock, pushing each other in the water. They were laughing and squealing but I kind of enjoyed watching them. The low flying aircraft might be a deterrent for some.

Funny you should mention that...3 planes came in...I actually love seeing them! A few years ago we were on out way back from Renaissance Island and the big KLM 747 flew right over us landing. .it was awesome!

We were at Barefoot on Aruba's Labor Day and loved the local atmosphere. There were kids playing on the beach and local boats rafted up together like we do at home. I think it adds to the atmosphere. I think of Barefoot as a celebratory place, but not the most romantic. Your dinner sounds amazing!!!
Not sure when, but we will be back
