Oh bed bug covers are special mattress to prevent bed bugs.. now in Florida if you buy a new mattress that must give you one.
We have them on our beds just cause of being in Florida..
Nope no washer/dryer but as you say what I paid for 9 days is less than some people pay for one day..
yes the place was clean and they cleaned it every day. I still brought clorox wipes and sprays.. lol
I met somebody from Columbia right below us and they pay $$$ 22 yrs ago and paying $800 plus per yr for their fee.. (still a lot more than what I pay for my stay.)
You really won't mind it. It is not the Renn.. buy honestly I actually liked it much better then the Renn... lay back; friendly people, so locally to every here.
Only $22.00 for a taxi from the airport..
If you decide you don't want to go I take your place.. hahaha
So blessed that we got to do this... just kicking myself in the butt for not booking another stay. Yes, we did it on a budget but had so much fun..

    ahhh, i now understand.

we just bought a new mattress and for additional $ we were sold a high end waterproof mattress pad.....
the funny thing with this is, the warranty is voided if this mattress pad is not used with the bed. (sleep number)

i do like the idea that the mattresses at the TROP are protected.
i do not like the idea that if they are vinyl/plastic they might be UNCOMFORTABLE/hot.

Also cloth pins for the curtains in the bedroom sunshine hit our room early but the birds singing to us every morning woke us up too.. lol

I always bring night lights as our room curtains are great blocking out any light. One year I forgot my nightlight, went to the hardware store and they looked at me like I was crazy , do not believe I found one. Now I keep in my "Aruba bag" along with other items i bring each trip so I don't forget.

Be careful for those who are used to walk in showers vs tub. Almost forgot how to get into one..lol
I have on bag for traveling that I keep in the following things... an outlet plug that can hold six devices vs the two.. great for charging those phones, tablets, computers and camera's and all in one place. Couple of automatic night lights great for the kitchen and bathrooms..
Hand sanitizer, and first aid kit with steri strips (great for cuts that are deep but don't need stitches.. and what most hospitals will use.

was met by bell person and greeted by a timeshare person. Did tell the timeshare person we weren't interested and was never bothered again
Checked in was easy.. just fyi they do ask for a $200.00 cash/credit card deposit for damage, lost towels and pool charges. not bad.
Got to our room was taken the long way, but we were on the fifth floor at the very end corner of the building.
Room was very already very large and the a/c was on and nice and cool.
When you first walked into the room you do notice it was dated and needed a face lift.
The fridge we had was an older model with ice cube trays..lol but bigger enough to put plenty of food in it. Cold and freezer was also cold.
In the kitchen you would find dishes and silverware for 6..along with glasses, cook ware, storage containers, blender, tea kettle and etc . Plenty of storage for food and other stuff. Older dishwasher so if you plan on using it bring along some tablets to do dishes.. it does supply dish soap. Dish cloth and towel
Glass table with 4 chairs and clean. Sofa (pull out bed too) was dated and chair. But nothing I couldn't handle. 32" Flat TV in living room too.
free hbo and not a whole lot of channels. New York news and CNN only news.
First bedroom has two twin beds.. TV was one of those old tube TV but who watches a whole lot of tv while in paradise.
Second bedroom king bed.. beds are older but did have bed bug covers on all beds..
TV like in the first bedroom old kind... In master bedroom the sun hits it early and wish the curtains blocked more of it..
Both bathrooms were dated with huge jet tubs (controllers outside the room) and showers combo... shower pressure not like that rain shower at home but I can not complain.. hot water and they did supplied each bath room with shampoo and bath gel.. I did tried both and it reminded me of the kind you get on a cruise ship...
Balcony was facing the pool and can see Superstore.. (front door is where you can see the ocean view)..
Outside was clean and always seeing somebody was cleaning and keeping up the property. They always had security walking around the property..
If you want a nice seat with the nice covers.. you need to get out by 9:30 and place you bag and your own towels...
There is two pools one with a slide and one with water fall.. two hot tubs and a kiddie pool..
No life guard and we saw a little girl almost fall in the pool if it wasn't for my son who stopped her. The parents were at the bar.
He did give them a positive coaching about not watching kids by the pool and drowning is the #2 for kids deaths.
They looked at him if he was crazy..
Towels are one per day per person and if you lose them it is $25.00 per towel deducted from your $200.00 and I do understand this cause there are some out there that have nothing but cruise and hotel towels at their homes..
When you get your towels reserve your grill if you plan on using...
The washer/dryer is in the middle section of each floor.. $2.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry.. you need to get tokens in the lobby,, 28 minutes to wash and 45 to dry..
Okay for Super food prices aren't too bad but somethings are high... Milk was $5.00 for half gallon... I like almond breeze and it was $7.00.. you can bring the kind that don't need to be refridge until open.
If you bring your own paper products, cereal and some staples I would advise to do that..
The meats at the store wasn't too bad. We had filet steaks on kabobs made daily and was about $20. for 5 of them. They also had chicken kind too for less money... both were really good. Tried the homemade hamburgers.. .yucky.. Bring your own frozen ground beef if you can.. lol
The bread and bakery was to die for. OMG better than Publix... you can smell them baking ...
One dressing you must buy is Jumbo Naturel... only $1.71 and it was good. I used it to marinated meats, dipping bread and etc. even bought 5 bottles home
They can't keep it on the shelves..
Snacks weren't too bad. Had some really good cookies and candies I brought home for coworkers vs t shirt..
The deli is all pre package daily and vacuumed sealed too. Cheese was so yummy too.. okay enough about food.. got to say I manage to lose 2lbs but Lou found one of them. lol
Now the beach.. walking distance but there is one section (forgot where) had a sewage smell. Want to say it was by another resort...
When you get to the beach.. there is a guy with the tan shirt. He will give you your chairs. We always tipped him well and bought us the lounge chairs and reg sitting chairs.. and they know where you are from because each resort has plastic wrist bands.. ( didn't like it )
If you want to do any water sports get it from Eagle Beach; they will give you a ride on the speed boat over to Palm Beach.. you must try the water tube.. loads of fun for anyone..
Bus runs every 15 minutes for $2.50 per person each way.. but you can buy an unlimited pass for $10.00 and it will take you to baby beach, the light house and etc.
Now that my vacation is over I can honestly say for what I pay to stay at the Tropicana I can not complain.... really isn't a bad place. Dated yes, clean and tropical, close to the beach, food store, bus stops and some nice casino's.
Would I stay there again . Yes.
I did not get to see the newer rooms; but did see the furniture and decor they were putting in from a storage area while on my daily walk..
Yes, I walked about 10 miles a day... sometime a couple of times a day...
Want to thank everyone for letting me take ya all on this journey and hope that some day we all can meet up there...
    Cathi
This review is very, very good..... great insight into the property plus and minus.... thx!
