Chase by a Donkey and lost in the desert!!!
Hi!!!
Now that I got your attention, let me tell you my story. My first time to the beautiful island of Aruba was back in 1995, with my then fiancée and parents in law. We stayed at the Renaissance (then the Sonesta) and my parents in law stayed at another timeshare they had in the island. I'm originally from Puerto Rico and even though I love my island, I truly fell in love with Aruba too. PR is way bigger than Aruba and some of the Caribbean magic gets lost. However, Aruba is like a small piece of paradise than can be explore in one day!!! It's my favorite place to do absolutely nothing, but lie at the beach and order Pina Coladas!!! Anyway, we rented a convertible back then and one day decided to explore the island. Well, we drove around looking for the caves and got lost in the middle of the dessert!!! To the point that we actually drove into someone's backyard and made a U turn!!! I remember the owner of the house waving at us...it was funny!!! (We never made it to the caves) Then we kept on driving and went to the other side of the island by the lighthouse. We then drove to the Chapel of Alta Vista, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the world, and we saw a donkey, in the middle of no where...So I decided to take a picture close to the donkey . Well the donkey did not like that and he started chasing me!!! I started running and the donkey was running behind me!!! It was hilarious!! I remember yelling to my husband “Let’s go!! get in the car, forget the picture” of course while I was running. I jumped inside the car (like the Duke of Hazard) and we took off... I looked back from the car and the donkey stopped running and was looking at us like saying “I don’t like paparazzi” We were laughing so hard!!!Donkey or no donkey, we love Aruba and every year we want to go back and visit... |
