Our trip summary - Aruba by the numbers
1 to 10, 10 being the best:
Resorts
9 - Renaissance Ocean Suites (seven nights). Great staff, best beach in Aruba.
8 – Westin (three nights). A pleasant surprise. Nice rooms, courteous staff, nice pool and beach, great pina coladas.
Restaurants, if order of our visits (includes evaluation of price)
6 Plaza Café. Good value and ambiance, food OK
9 Wacky Wahoo. Best fish I have ever had in Aruba
7 Casa Tua. Nice dishes for price
1 Iguaba Joe’s. Sorry…..tried very hard to like it because it’s a traditional visit for us every year, unfortunately, the only word that describes the taste of the quesadilla and the meat on the nachos is “vile”
8 Madam Janette’s. Best rack of lamb ever, regardless of where. All meals good.
6 Hung Paradise. Good value, nice food.
7 Cilo. Welcome new addition, nice breakfast
6 Yemanja. A little too gourmet for me, can understand why some would love it
7 Hard Rock. If you crave a burget, this is the place
3 Tony Roma’s. First and last visit, ribs ordinary at best…..cold but overcooked.
3 Tomato Charlies. I was the only one in our party that thought it was “OK”. Others thought frozen pizza is better.
Miscellaneous
10 Bully. Best taxi in Aruba, big and safe. Bully is a very nice man, a very safe driver.
Other Statistics:
Pounds gained – 3
Dollars spent per day (not including airfare or lodging – party of four) $200.
Total minutes of rain over eleven days – 30
9 American Airlines. Handled our snow cancellation very well, flights both ways had early arrival, staff professionally dealt with a medical emergency of an elderly person.
2 number of restaurants that applied service charge....much fewer than usual
Changes:
Seaport Mall nicely upgraded; Palm Beach Mall opened, most storefronts empty right now; Don Carlos restaurant being re-built
