    CURLEYQ's wonderful adventure, trip report

Hi, we flew out of jfk and got to aruba about 20 min. Early. Met Hans from tropic and our rental mgr. at the airport, picked up our car and followed agent to villa. House is great, 3 br, 2 bath and pool. We unpacked car and went off to ling & son of course I took wrong turn and drove lord knows where! I finally asked for directions and it turned out I was 100 yards from new supermarket, and we went there and stocked up. Well returning to villa got lost again and laughed that we would never find it be stuck in desert and living off food in trunk. Saved by another tourist on dirt bike who led us back to golf course from where after several small wrong turns just happened to spot villa by pure luck (been living for too long with GPS wich I do not have here). Unpacked groceries, now getting a bit late thought what the heck we are on vacation lets live dangerously and go out for dinner (DW insists on bringing first aid kit, some food and rescue flair in case my driving skills have not improved). I have a coupon for Moombas beach bar, so after slowly driving towards ocean, taking notice of every small or large landmark on the way and filing it in my steel trap memory (OK maybe paper trap memory), we park by holiday inn walk on beach and find Moombas had a wonderful dinner and drinks. Best part I drove home and did not get lost once, piece of cake!!!! (DW removes rescue flair from trunk). We finish the day with drinks and candle light at the pool nice breeze, some laughs. Aaahhh Aruba

    2nd,3rd,4th,5th and 6th day

Hi all, first hi back Andrea, wifi has been down for us for days, I felt naked even as tech challenged as I am. WOW have things changed since 2003!!!!! Most all good. I am driving around here like a native (who only knows the 1 and can still see the high and low hotels) I now have found lings loaded up on food 2 cases of balashi, 1 case brite, wine, and champagne and tequila (can not believe price for beer!) lime juice, strawberries, and watermelon just add ice and blender. Where to start, ok food we have been to Moombas (great) for dinner, salt&pepper for lunch (also great DH had coupon) and best of all been to Scott's brats twice now for lunch and looking forward to trying to get there early enough to try breakfast and more lunches (can they open a NJ chapter?) only problem with Scott's is they are not GIANTS fans (green and gold are nice colors also). We have been snorkeling Malmok to Arshi beach, we brought a tandom kayak with us so we paddle out to reefs and snorkel. Made a donation to crystal casino yesterday afternoon during rainstorm (NG the dealer only takes down card after all hands are played gives away about 1 percent). At night had a wonderful dinner at Blossoms in Westin, early bird habitchi dinner, excellent, and price was great. Then to Raddison casino we had a great dealer at blackjack (Bianca) won most times when she dealt and she had the sweetest way of saying you have 20 ! (I prefer 21 but I don't think we ever lost a hand when she said 20) Also went to meet on Monday at AM. 8-10 people there and met nice couple from N. Carolina and talked with them most of time, and said Hi to others, looking forward to next Monday and try to mingle more. Tomorrow we are going on an ATV tour with action tours (have $10 off coupon) DW wants to drive her own quad !!!!!!!! TO THE NATURAL POOL. (I have been riding bikes for 40 years) settled on tandem quad and split driving. (DAMM I hate being in back, and DW reminds me of my directional skills, have gotten lost in desert Ariz. Utah) she has driven a scooter a couple of times tops, she is a true spirit and I will wear a helmet and hang on tight. Weather, wow rain has come down in buckets at times mostly at night but yesterday (wed.) afternoon a real monsoon came down around noon for 40 minutes or so we were downtown and ran to a great bar called Mojitos had a couple of drinks and a great snack of nachos while watching the main drag turn into a river in front (DW jokes " good thing we came to a desert island") after, we walked almost the entire trolley route and did not see a trolley. That's when we hit the crystal casino (again bad blackjack rules). Suprise!!! We drove past a construction site and the guy directing traffic looked like a contractor I knew from NJ, turn around and yell " hey Jim" the look on his face was priceless as they say in the tv commercial. We catch up and he and DW have been living here for 10 years! OK if I have all my limbs and body in good condition after DW drives our quad tomorrow (Ouch she can throw a good right into my shoulder too!!!!!!!!!) and our wifi is up we will continue 9 days to sad day. PS I got our car key wet and our car would not run. Called Hans at tropic and he was there quick, new keys and made sure everything was OK. Hans and Tropic are the best!!!
