Dannyo's trip report

Sat 10/28
Limo got to our house on time but it was to small,so we had to cancel and call a local cab company to get to the airport.Made it in plenty of time.Flight was on time and got to Aruba 20 min early.Met Hans from Tropic, signed papers and off to the Surf Club.Room was ready early(asked for an early check in)2pm,Went to Lings to pick up than went to room to relax.Relaxed so much that we slept until 6am the next day.Beach and water at the Surf NOT CLEAN.
Sun 10/29
Went for our early morning walk down to the Phoenix.Water and beach from Playa Linda to Phoenix was clean.Holiday Inn and Marriott not ....NOT HAPPY..dinner tonight at Sole Mare.Good meal as always.
Mon 10/27
8:30 pickup for my dive with Red Sail.Dove the Star Germann and the Antilla 50-60 ft.vis.got back about 1pm light rain and some clouds.Diner at Champions than went to the casino ..lost$$
Tues 10/28
Went for our early morning ,than to breakfast at LaVista.Showers on and off all day.Dinner at Ruth's Chris.Just ok.
Wed 10/29
Overnight heavy rain till early morning.8:30 pickup for my dives with Red Sail.Dove Antilla and Penitentials vis 40-50 ft.got back around 12 noon.Water was a at the Surf Club had lunch by the pool and dinner at Pizza Charlies $45 very good.owners meeting on Thursday CANT WAIT...
Thus 10/30
The sun is back, went for our walk to the Phoenix had breakfast in room, than off to my meeting.Beach was clear of seaweed but there is a nasty smell.Had a very long meeting and the main concern with all the owners is the conditions on the beach...the new resort manager Scott ext.6662 had allot to say and answered allot of questions.Marriott is paying a company caller SEA SOLUTIONS to clean the bottom of the ocean at the Marriott, they somehow dredge the bottom of the ocean and than dump it out to sea. They think this may solve the smell and clear the bottom of the soot that is there. We all hope this works. It is to take place sometime in Feb.Anyone staying at the Surf feel free to get in touch with Scott 6662 he really does care and will get back to you if you have any problems.Dinner tonight at Grand Victoria.

Thanks for the tidbits! It is good to know that the timeshare owners will eventually have the beach situation fixed rather than Marriott pocketing the money and waiting for Mother Nature to fix the problem on her own timetable.

DANNYO'S TRIP REPORTpg4

Fri 11/7
Early morning towel thing, than the early morning walk thing.Breakfast at LaVista.Dinner tonight at Giannas.very good.No rain all week but very little breeze. For anyone that is staying at any of the Marriott properties I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU.The water smells there is alot of coral and the bottom is like a sponge. In my opinion the worst beach on Palm Beach.Any hotel past the Holiday Inn is great..best past Hyatt.
Sat11/8
I hate this day....Had to pack for our last day on Aruba.Went for our last walk to the Phoenix than I have to go into the ocean to say good bye.Went for breakfast at LaVista(love this place for breakfast(than a little shopping and off to airport.Hans was waiting for us to return our car, helped with bags and checked in at Continental,I have never seen the lines so long.they came to get us and took us to another terminal to go through Aruba customs, and went right through US customs.Flight left on time and landed on time.
Overall with the exception of the beach problem at the Marriott we had a great time and yes we are going back next year.I just hope that the Ocean problem is fixed.Any questions that anyone staying at the Marriott may have please asked.YES WE DO LOVE ARUBA.Sorry if this was to long....

Hio Dannyo,

I am leaving for the Surf Club Saturday. Does the beach smell all of the time? Is the water murky? Are the water sports still on the beach? With the sounds of the beach do you think I should change my plans? Sorry to ask so many questions, but it doesn't sound very good at the beach.

Thanks
