Only MJ & Passions so far. We are only 8 for the first week, and since the 8 of us have been on the island so many times we are just going to relax and and enjoy being there - not too much craziness. The 2nd week we will visit with the Jolly Pirates, volunteer at the Donkey Sanctuary & explore Arikok & renew our wedding vows on the beach That's about all the plans so far.

And we are here - La Cabana - finally!

    Sunday 8/11

Left the house at 8am, off to Newark Airport, check in with very short lines, went thru security with no problem, got some breakfast & waited at the gate. Boarded with no issues, in line to take off the captain says there is a warning light on that has something to do with fuel and we will have to have maintenance take a look at the aircraft. That took an hour to change a fuel filter and then we were off. We made about 20 minutes back in the air so we landed about 40 minutes late. No wait time at all at immigration - very short wait for our bags, hit Dufry and went out to arrival to hop in the van to Royal for our car. Quick & easy got our cars and headed to The Paddock for our arrival Balashi & Balashi Chills (this has become tradition - our first stop every year). We did run into a TON of traffic with a political parade in the street, but we didn't let it bother us. We checked out the beauty all around us & the new walking path & finally made it to the Paddock They have All You Can Eat burgers on Sunday night for $10 per person! 3 in our party of 8 ordered that, but didn't order a 2nd burger! I had Asian Chicken, so yummy! My brother had Sate which he said was great, my son had schnitzel and my little one had chicken nuggets! lol

We piled back into the cars & headed to La Cabana. Almost got smashed by a De Palm tours bus who whipped around the corner behind Amsterdam Manor. I literally had to put the car in reverse and back up the street! Pulled into the parking lot of LCBRC and there is a line out the door of check ins. This is approx 7:30pm. by 8:30pm we were still in line for check in! A bell man came over and said he would get us in our room and then we could check in later. Perfect. We unpacked, got the kids settled and went back down to check in & get our wrist bands around 10pm, only 2 people in line in front of us.

Kids went back up to the room w/ hubby while I went to check out Glitz casino with my parents. Very cute, quite small, but they really packed a bunch of games and a nice bar and band area into such a tight space. Very smokey. I played on $20 for a little while, cashed out at $71.76 Went to their bar for my first Aruba Ariba of 2013

Now it's 11:30 and I'm back in the room, the kids & hubby are all asleep & I am so looking forward to our first full day on the island!

glad that you made it safe and sound.

running into those political parades is sometimes a nightmare.
'tis the season....red, green yellow.......and horns blasting.

turn that $71 into $150 tomorrow
we are not wild about the glitz due to the very smoky conditions we found when we were there in May.
but, i can deal with the smoke if it is profitable....and in your case 2 thumbs up!

thank you for taking the time out on a very busy day to post.
now get your bottom into bed!
the beach will be calling your name very early

    Monday 8/12

Started the day at 6:30 - my middle child & I went to Dunkin Donuts at Tropicana for some coffee for everyone & a dozen donuts for the kids. My mother, daughter & I went to Super Food to do our regular shopping the next few weeks. It is nice & big, seems a little expensive but I haven't shopped anywhere else yet. We may go to Ling's tomorrow since I forgot a few things. We came back, put everything away in both rooms, called the boys in from the pool for some sandwiches & spend the rest of the day going between the pool & beach. My daughter won $80 at Bingo The boys played volleyball on the beach. I brought meatballs down with us. My mom bought pasta & bread & garlic & salad at Super Food so we had Italian night and now at 8:30pm we are all lounging, ready for bed - we all have sun-kissed faces with heavy eyelids
