We slept in a bit, did some putzing around the room. I did laundry, etc.
At 10:30 my parents took my boys on the Atlantis submarine. The both took tons and tons of pictures and were so excited to tell us all about it when they got back! Money well spent and some awesome grandparent/grandkids time together While they were gone my daughter, husband & I met my brother on the beach for a while and came back for 2pm Bingo. I won a beautiful La Cabana t-shirt, a juicy hamburger & $10 lol. Spent my $10 (plus) at the frozen drink happy hour.
When the submariners got back my youngest was having some belly issues so I took him up to the room to chill a little bit and to eat something. I'm having a hard time getting him to eat & drink lately.
We all showered and got ready for dinner a little too early since we purposely missed happy hour. We were supposed to go to dinner Wednesday night, but happy hour got in the way (oops) so Brianna & I went to Glitz for a bit. We each started with $20 - she left with $.05 and I left with $49.55
We watched the sunset from the balcony and then finally drove around the island a bit, looking at the construction and noticing some new clubs we don't remember seeing before.
We arrived at Chalet Suisse at 7:30 meeting my parents & brother there. There were so many cars in the parking lot I was a little worried that we would have a problem getting a table with no reservation. Walked in, waited in line while others were seated and then they seated us with no problem. I always forget just how big that place is inside!
As usual we enjoyed an amazing meal. Escargot, french onion soup, awesome salad with an incredible house garlic dressing, Chalet Chicken stuffed with spinach, the big boys all had filet mignon and raved about it all night long. My boys had chicken fingers & chocolate mousse for dessert!
We came back with plans to go back down to Glitz but everyone was exhausted so I went by myself planning to use only the tickets Brianna & I had brought home earlier. I lost our combined $49.60, but it took about an hour to do!
I will be adding some pictures (including food shots) to the link above in a few minutes.
Another amazing relaxing day before all the craziness starts! Same story as many other days - started at the beach, came back for lunch, went to the pool for bingo at 2. My youngest won the full board bingo - $80! He bought himself a necklace when the ladies came & set up their tables last night.
We hit happy hour pretty hard....my mom and brother ate at Las Ramblas and said their meals were amazing! My family had hotdogs & mac & cheese in the room.
Today we are planning on the buffet breakfast at the Islander Grill and then getting off property for a while. Driving around, maybe go to Arikok, maybe Baby Beach, maybe Charlie's Bar for lunch? Who knows....I love that we can just get in the car and go with no fear of where we wind up, no fear of going away from the resort or trusted area - it's all trusted, as long as you are smart
I also love these early mornings on the balcony watching the La Cabana come to life and all the wonderful employees here who make it all happen.
thanks for continuing to share your family's vacation with us.
if you happen to head out to the arikok, enjoy! if you have the time after your drive thru stop at the Urimana (sp?) Center for some of the best pizza and burgers on island. very delicious and very inexpensive.
if down at baby beach check out the pet cemetery, not far at all from baby beach....just down the dirt road off the parking lot of the beach.
I love the beach (who doesn't?), anywhere that I can snorkel, The Donkey Sanctuary (much to the dismay of my daughter), the lighthouse.
It is fun to read your reports. It sounds like some quality family time!
Only one more week for us. No kids this year; we are bringing our friends instead. They have never been to "our" fair island and they are so excited. Everyone is coming over today for snorkel lessons and packing advisement. I will also make sure they see this website so that they can read all of your wonderful reports for themselves. Keep them coming!
