I remember the lost wedding band story. Just shows how awesome all the members of this forum are when someone needs help. If I recall, there were several folks involved in the final return of the ring. Glad to hear you are having such a good time Jacki. I really enjoy reading your daily reports.

The Pond is actually called "Fontein" which means fountain. It is the only fresh water spring on the island.

There are actually two pools and they are on private property. Fortunately the cave is part of the National Park.

I have a bit more info about it including photos at http://www.arubabound.com/photos/arikok/fontein.htm. It is truly a very unique spot.

When it was still part of the National Park, the building on the property housed a museum. The property's entrance was on the eastern side of the property as opposed to the western side adjacent to the cave. http://old.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.492...19&l=0&m=b&v=8

The property was, as far as I know, last slated to become a resort Government Not Enthusiastic About The Project, Environmental Organizations Concerned. Obviously that is long delayed.

Funny, just this past May I was pondering the fate of the spot. It is truly unique. Ideally I would love to see the government purchase the land and incorporate it into the park as imo, it should be.

I will qualify my remarks, as always, not my island, not my park. Our family just pays the entry fee to see it.

Trivia- there is a Fontein in Curaçao as well.

    Sunday 8/18

We packed up and got ready to check out and get checked in to the new rooms for noon or so. We tried to go to The Promenade, but they don't open until 11:30 - we were there at 9...oops so we wound up at Carambola. Thankful for the little mix up because the breakfast was great and the service was even better!

We headed to Alhambra after breakfast where my daughter won $780 starting with $20 on a penny slot! She cashed out & left right away - good girl Now her books are set for the semester!

Came back to LaCabana to officially move rooms, and met at Glitz casino for the 1pm Bingo Bongo. My mom won $100 - she needed it after her Alhambra loss Everyone hung at the pool while I unpacked and at 5 Brianna & I went to change cars - I am now driving a 12 passenger van....and then to the airport to pick up the crew from Germany Brought them back to the room, enjoyed their first Balashi with them, took a dip in the pool and ran back to the airport to pick up the California crew Everyone is all checked in and loving being together and keep sing-songing "We're in Aruba, We're in Aruba" My heart may just explode!!!! <3

terrific that the troops have arrived!!and awesome about "B" winning that big chunk of change at the Alhambra.
although the place is kind of smoky it is a casino where we have had a few great wins too.
enjoy your time with your family and thanks for posting.

Aruba Royal as usual - last week we had a Hyundai Sonata - what a nice car, great condition - all good. This week we have a Hyundai H1 - great condition, there is a little rip in the drivers seat, but the air works great thru the entire long 12 passenger van!

    Monday 8/19

This trip is moving along so fast! Waaaaahhhh I want time to slow down!

Morning started a little slow with it being everyone else's first morning on the island. Being as excited as I was I couldn't sleep and was out on the patio at 4am. Did laundry, went to Dunkin twice (first time they hadn't opened yet...I seem to forget I'm not in Jersey anymore and sometimes expect stores to be open 24 hours lol), went to the beach and secured two huts, I watched the sun come to waken the island, sat through the 5 minute rain and one by one my nieces joined me outside for their coffees - treasured time

We all went to the beach and spent time bobbing in the ocean - they were amazed with the fish and the clarity of the water We came back to Islander Grill for lunch - Brianna & I split a turkey wrap and a cobb salad - both were to die for! Then 5 of us piled in the van and went to Super Food (still no refried beans). Came back to hang at the pool & enjoy happy hour. The 4 middle generation participated in the beer drinking contest - they lost, but I think it was fixed....lol

We showered & dressed - quite a feat for 13 of us to get ready at the same time! We went to Amazonia for dinner. All these years of coming to the Island and I've never been there. We usually go to Texas de Brazil every year, but figured we'd change it up. The 10% off coupon in the Airport welcome bag helped make that decision.... I don't eat meat, so I can't really compare the two establishments on that, but I think TdB has a better salad bar selection, while Amazonia's waitstaff seemed more attentive, asking what meats we would like to return to the table and making it happen in an instant.

Right next door we watched a sport that seemed to be a cross between beach volleyball & tennis. Very interesting. We walked around a bit then came back to LaCabana to get in comfy clothes and play board games - again some amazing treasured family time! Some went to sleep, some went to the late happy hour at Pata Pata and some went to Glitz Casino - those played for a long time on the money they put in, won very small amounts. Good times
