My Sister in law Ann rented a Jeep and took the cousins on an adventure of the back side of the island. She drove to the Natural Pool the last time she was here with us and it was something she really wanted to do again and show the kids. Ann is an amazing photographer and the other reason she wanted to take this adventure was the awesome picture taking opportunities.
The started at The Butterfly Farm, continued to the California Lighthouse, Alto Vista Chapel, Bushiribana Gold Mine Ruins, The fallen Natural Bridge & finally The Natural Pool. What a day they had! The had the top down on the jeep & reapplied sunscreen & still came home burnt. And exhausted too, so we lounged at the pool for a while, I came in to make a nice dinner for our weary travelers.
I've never used a convection oven before and was terrified using it. I figured I would just google how to use it, but that's not how I cook lol so I winged it. One meatless, one with turkey meat & pepperoni, turkey meatballs, chopped caprese salad, garlic toast on a frying pan, huge garden salad - YUM! Total success and enough for 13 people
I will be waking the crew shortly to get ready for The Jolly Pirates!!
Jolly Pirates was amazing as always! We had a wonderful time. The ocean was very rough at the Antilla site - worse than normal. The other 2 sites were a little more rough than normal, but not bad. Our first time snorkelers loved it! We came back to hit 2pm bingo at the pool and then went to Iguana Joe's for dinner. There was an AVP (political party) demonstration on the street with 3 huge speakers powered by a generator. Cute at first, loud Caribbean style music, then the club/dance type music started pounding. About half of us were ready to cancel our orders and leave. We couldn't hear the server, he couldn't hear us, it was crazy. As good as the food was, and as attentive as the server tried to be it will just be remembered as a very poor experience. We were there from about 6-8:30. The music finally stopped around 8.
We came back to the room & the little ones are complaining of ear aches. Likely swimmers ear so I need to venture out to the pharmacy to try and find something for them. My husband got an email to call home and got some very difficult news. Just made the night even worse and we all went to sleep by 9:30. The day started with rough seas and ended just the same.
jacki so sorry to hear of the rough waters early on and then late.
at the pharmacy, ask the pharmacist for some glycerin or glycerin oil.
couple of drops in each ear is soothing.
also too, have the boys use the hair dryer on LOW setting help with pain....not blowing directly in to the ear.
also too......a little bengay on the back of the top of the ear.
all helps with the pain.
also too buy some macks ear plugs. they are soft and pliable and can be stuck in the ear (like a wad of gum) and allow the boys to swim.
we bought them before at the pharmacy near the hospital (and the glycerin drops as well there too).
