Touched our passports this morning, time to start this year's thread
5 days, 23 hours till take off and I finally reserved our cars yesterday! Yaris or similar for the first week, Dodge Caravan for the 2nd week.
Still need to work on a ride to the airport or parking in a lot, or park/sleep/fly.
Dogs are situated, still need to get cat covered. Still have shopping to do, not one item has been packed. Haven't even brought the luggage upstairs yet. Makes me miss my Missy girl. She was so smart. She knew what was going on when she saw suitcases.
Anyway - it will be very different this year - just me, Rich & the boys for the first 2 days. then my parents join on Friday the 5th, then my daughter arrives on Wed 8/10, then my SsIL from California arrive on 8/12 along with my brother, his wife & their daughter (if that actually happens).
This year the dogs will go to my aunt's house for the first week or so, then my daughter's friend (a second daughter of sorts) will pick them up from my aunt's and bring them home to our house (using her own key to my front door lol) Kassy will stay at the house and take care of everything (cat, pool, etc.) till we get home.
It's a possibility. They already reduced their time in Aruba by one week. His MIL has a 3rd recurrence of Leukemia. She has already been through 2 stem cell replacement procedures & chemo.
ETA: I think Missy's happy she'll be coming with us in spirit this year
Sounds crazy, but, I don't want to bother anyone if I don't have to, which is why I wouldn't ask a friend to drive us using our van. We plan to leave the house around 3:30am. And on the way home I don't want to wait. I want to call the shuttle while we wait for our luggage. Also I get VERY car sick. Very. I typically don't make it to the airport without getting sick when my mother insists on getting a car service for all 9 of us plus our luggage. Ugh. So I'm very very happy to drive myself there and home

Excited for you Jacki! Sounds like a very busy time in Aruba with different people coming different days! I would rather drive ourselves to and from as well just for peace of mind, sorry to hear about your car sickness. I thought only little kids got car sick Did you every ask your MD for something to help? I wish you could sip on a ginger ale or ginger snaps to get you through your ride smoothly. Your trip will be here before you know it as you will be busy packing and all that fun stuff. Can't wait to hear all about your trip. Positive thoughts for your brother's MIL.
