    Tues 10/23...Well, I was awoken at 8 by the pitter patter of rain on the metal roof outside my bedroom window. I just wanted to bury myself under the covers. It rained till about noon and never really cleared up. I hate to keep crying about my lack of tan but in the 5 years coming here I've never missed more than one day a year on the beach. Now it's been 2 in a row. I know everybody says a rainy day in Aruba is better than a sunny day working. I'll stand by that but feeling the heat of the bright sun would make a big difference in my mood. Sandy, please take your act up North. We ended up going shopping AGAIN, this time to Paseo Herencia and the Palm Beach Mall. A lot of places didn't open until 2 or 3. Stopped in for a bite of lunch at Le Bistro at Paseo Herencia where Taste of Belgium used to be. My DW and I split the grouper fingers and steak sandwich. They were both very good with the fingers having a crispy coating and tender steak on a french baguette. Oh and stopped for some peanut butter gelato across the street. I starved myself for 3 months before we came down so I can let loose for 17 days. I gain a good 10 lbs while here and takes months to get it off. Why does it come on so fast and stay so long. It is worth it though. Got our shopping done(is it ever done?) and went down to sit on the beach with my BIL. He sat through all the rain and afternoon clouds and haze.....We just got back from another first try restaurant. I'm really a meat and potatoes guy(not as bad as my BIL) but there are a couple asian meat dishes I can eat. We went to JH Yees Asian Bistro above Hard Rock. The service was fantastic and friendly. My DW had pan fried noodles with chicken and veggies, BIL wok chicken and broccoli, and I had Mongolian beef. All very good in a nice atmosphere. Good dining experience. I will add this to my "go again" list. Now I get to close my eyes and dream of my upcoming crepes. Goodnight!

    Andrea, I don't mind they add the 15% but just don't poor mouth me about having to split it up with all the staff and expect me to give another 15%. And, we'll have plenty to talk about, like, how nice the sun feels, where we're going for dinner, how good my crepe was, how good she looks in that thong. Al the typical Aruba convos.

    those rain bands from ts "SANDY" were there today
    we have been rained on periodically while in aruba and I certainly whined about it, so do NOT feel bad about talking about it here.

    tomorrow morning i really really hope that you do not hear any pitter patter.

    let the sun games begin!

    Enjoying your report... sorry about so much rain, but at least you got all the shopping done. Hope you can get all that stuff home! Agree about the 15% svc charge.... don't want to hear from a service person about getting more.... I always tip additional for great (even good) service. It's like leaving your bills out with the check here and the service person says, "Do you need change?" Anyway.... keep the reports coming and thanks for the info on Daniel's.... Never tried it, but closer now!

    Rarely over 20% but will for really, really perfect service! And I'll always do the additional tip in cash so the server that took care of us gets it all.

    Wed 10/24...ok,no pitter patter this morning but not much better. I hate to beat a dead horse but we have literally seen one very small patch of blue sky in the 4 1/2 days we've been here. I hate to watch this storm keep heading north since my son just moved to Nassau in July, so I just want it to die out and go away. Now back to food...this was another Linda's morning. Along with the usual bananas, walnuts, and whipped cream, my addition for this morning was almonds. We asked to have our crepes cooked a little longer so the edges were extra crispy. Wow, were they good. Did I tell you that I try to eat just 2 meals a day while we're here. If I ate 3 I'm afraid someone would try to put a harpoon in me while I lay on the beach. I definitely don't hold back on the times I do eat though. After breakfast I was determined to spend the day at the beach, and I did. A few sprinkles of rain here and there, but darn it, I was on the beach. The waves really got cranked up about 1 o'clock and were really bashing the shoreline and is still pounding now at 11. We were all hungry for a good burger tonight so headed out to Bingos. Bacon, cheese, and egg on a burger...yum...big juicy burger with a ton of fries. Good simple meal. DW and I decided to walk around the shops a little before heading home to watch the World Series. Parked in the lot next to Dunkin Donuts and as soon as I closed the door I realized the keys were still in the ignition. I tried to somehow put the blame on my wife but it was me all the way. I was not a happy camper. I felt so bad because I didn't want to bother anybody at 8:30, but I had to give Hans a call. Tropic Car Rental(Hans) is absolutely the BEST!!! Drove all the way from his home to pick me up at the Phoenix and go get my car unlocked... and was in a good mood. He said these things happen and started telling stories that were a lot worse than mine. Great guy, great service, great cars! Next up, keep the storms away from the Bahamas and don't let me burn to a crisp tomorrow in the bright sunshine of Aruba. Goodnight!

    the blue skies are coming! well actually blue sky is there!!

    lindas certainly does draw you back................does hans' car just drive there automatically?

    glad that hans/tropic got you all fixed up with a smile.

    we had to call him once, in tears "hans i got rear ended by a lady on a cellphone" he showed up, more concerned for our safety, than the vehicle.
    he gave us another car, and drove the bashed in one away.
    he was a gentleman
