Thurs 10/25...I'm predicting 6 more weeks of winter weather in Aruba. I finally saw my shadow today and felt like Punxsutawney Phil(for all you non PA people, Google groundhog day). It was a cloudy start but clouds thinned out and got to see the yellow ball. Felt so good!!! May this be the start of something normal. The waves pounding the west coast is amazing though. Things need to get back to normal fast. After eating a couple cookies for breakfast my DW and I decided to walk up to Bugaloe Grill for lunch about 2. They were closed, I suppose due to the rough water, so headed over to Casa Tua for some pizza. Closed. After saying we would never go again, we ended up going to Hard Rock for some nachos. Plate of nachos and 2 lemonades...$30. Plus printed at the bottom of the check. 15% service charge is split amongst staff so tips would be appreciated. I usually get good meals at Hard Rock(Nassau, Cayman Is) but haven't yet here. After 4 trys, I am officially done with Aruba HRC. Went back and tried to catch up on the tanning I missed the last 4 days. Hopefully, I will have that golden Aruba tan by tomorrow. I may be crazy but the color of my Aruba tan(golden) is so much different than any other place. Anybody else feel that way? Came off the beach about 6 and got to see our first beautiful sunset of the year. Now this is more like it. Just got back from another great meal at Madame Janette's. My DW wasn't feeling too well so wanted to go with something simple like a filet mignon. Same with my BIL and I got the pork schnitzel with a gravy and some kind of cheese pasta on top. The steaks were very good but not quite as good as Daniel's the other night and my schnitzel was exellent. Portions were big, the service and the singer, both very good, as was the atmosphere. We will be going back again next week when my SIL gets on the island. Home to watch the game and looking forward to a crepe kind of morning. Goodnight!

andrea, the car seems to know where to go every other morning. i'm actually still sleeping when we it pulls up to llinda's. the only poster child I would make is "Aruba's biggest crybaby" earlier this week. The crispy only last a day or two.

Fri 10/26...What a wonderful sight!!! Got up at 7 and looked out my bdrm window to have the sun burn a hole in my retna. Wow, have I missed that. Then to top it off, put the car on autopilot and ended up at Linda's. Walnuts, bananas, whipped cream, and extra topping of the day..strawberries. I'm sorry I hadn't asked sooner but getting my crepe cooked longer(crispy) makes a huge difference. I think today's may have been my best ever. Got back, greased up, and headed to the beach. What a bright sunny hot day with unusually light winds. Not a complaint, I'll take this the rest of the vacation. It's just everything is not back to normal with the pounding waves and little wind from a different direction. Still a great beach day and well on my way to an envious tan. Came off the beach about 6 to get ready to eat a another "new" restaurant for us. Looking for a simple meal, got some advice and headed to Tulip at MVC Eagle Beach. DW and I had salad and grouper fingers(yes I actually ordered fish), and BIL, you guessed it, hamburger. Our salad and fingers were very good. Very light with terrific potato wedges. Burger very good. Very pleasant meal, then home for the DW to do some laundry in these ridiculously stupid machines they have in the Phoenix. A washer and dryer in one machine. I'm not talking stacked W&D, you actually wash and dry in the same machine. Takes forever too. Glad that's a woman's job...wait, is that a chauvinistic statement? jk..really jk. SIL flies in tomorrow so DW doesn't have to babysit anymore. Now you will start to see a lot more seafood dishes. Her and BIL are complete culinary opposites. Praying for all the islanders and East coast Americans who have been, and will be affected by Sandy. Goodnight!

Sat 10/27....Hot, hot, hot...what a morning. It was so penetrating with no Aruba breeze. But, still not complaining. Overnight we had quite a lightning show with constantly rumbling thunder but cleared by morning. Waves are starting to settle down a little but the seaweed is really starting to wash up now. So nice laying on the beach with so few people because of the change over. SIL flew in today so I got to mess around in the traffic around the airport. I'm sure it'll be nice when all the construction is done. Spent the rest of the day on the beach then headed to another "new" restaurant. My SIL picked Mangos at Amsterdam Manor, which was a good choice. My DW had a huge piece of Almond Crusted Grouper(very good), SIL had Red Snapper(delicious), BIL had filet(good but not his best this week), I had pork tenderloin wrapped in prociutto with brie cheese and mashed potatoes(really enjoyed it). Nice place but the mosquitoes were as hungry as we were. Grabbed a dish of Baskin Robbins and DD coffee on the way home to watch the baseball and ND football games. Ready to get a full day of sun and fun. Hang in there East coast! Goodnight!

Sun 10/28...Another hard rain storm overnight only to be awoken by the bright sunshine burning through the curtains. Thought I'd head up the walkway to get my first taste of Scotts Brats only to find they are closed on Sunday. Ended up with a couple of donuts at DD and just snacked the rest of the day until dinner. Great day at the beach. Seems like the weather is finally getting back to normal. The breeze is picking up and coming from the right direction. The waves starting to calm after they've caused a lot of erosion and piled up a lot of seaweed. Came off the beach about 5 to catch up on some football scores then get ready for another "new" restaurant. Got some recomendations from home to try Marandi on the water. Beautiful place in a beautifu setting. DW got a risotto dish which was very tasty, SIL got very tender duck breast, BIL(you guessed it) a filet which was good, and I got the cornish hen. Came on rice and vegs with sauce. Very tender and juicy. Ended the meal with banana creme brulee. Yum! Would definitely go back again. Headed home to watch some baseball and football again and prepare for another great morning of sunshine and crepes. Pray that Sandy fizzles out fast. Goodnight!

Loving your report.... I look forward to reading it with my morning coffee. I especially like the sunny part! Here in Massachusetts today, Sandy is 'blowing up a storm!' Your report is a great reminder for where I'd rather be!

Explorer - I totally agree with the golden tan. I told my husband last year the tan I always get in Aruba is so different than at home or elsewhere, it is just a very different color and I love, love, love it.....Can't wait to get my next one very soon. Enjoying your reports while bunkering down waiting for "Sandy" to come and go, keep them coming please. Enjoy and have fun

Mon 10/29...More storms overnight that had some minor flooding on the streets. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning when it's Linda's day. Walnuts, almonds, bananas, and whipped cream just slays me. SIL loves her walnuts, brie cheese, and honey. DW boring plain. Went to Lings to pick up a few groceries then off to the beach. Friends were supposed to fly in from Harrisburg but their flights got cancelled. Not sure if they're going to be able to book for later this week. It was a nice day for the beach with plenty of sun and a few clouds to cool it down a little at times. Kept going back to the room to check on the hurricane to see how things were holding up back home in Hershey, PA. What a nasty storm. Decided on a simple dinner so stopped in at Scala and a little shopping afterwards. DW and SIL got grouper sandwich, BIL, yep and burger, and I got a chicken wrap. Everything was very good and good service. Our second time there and will definitely go back. Home to watch more news about the storms and calls to the family. Good luck to all Northeasterners and be safe! Goodnight!
